Does anyone remember this compilation release from Terlac (1988) conducted by David Newman? It features a good amount of Tiomkin's score for IT'S A WONDER LIFE, and reasonable suites of Addinsell's A CHRISTMAS CAROL, and Mockridge's MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET. If anyone could point me in the right direction towards finding this CD, it would be much appreciated.

Also, while I have an excellent 7-minute suite of Addinsell's majestic score to FIRE OVER ENGLAND on the recently recorded and released ASV cd, I was wondering if there were any other recordings that feature extended suites of this score, since I have reason to doubt that this has received a release ... it's from 1937, alas.

Again, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I have a copy of the Sundance Christmas movies CD, but I haven't seen one in the used shops for some time. I could tape it but I don't have equipment to burn CDRs.

There is another version of the Fire Over England music--the same suite with a different conductor--on a compilation of Addinsell music on Marco Polo, part of their British Light Music series I believe. The cover has a still from Tom Brown's Schooldays and the CD has music from this as well as the 1939 Goodbye Mr. Chips and other Addinsell film and other music.

Yes, it's a nice album. Too bad that Sundance never followed up with a Volume 2.

It should be noted that the It's a Wonderful Life score is mostly a reconstruction of Tiomkin's score as it was originally intended for the film. Life underwent some last minute re-editing because RKO moved up the release date from summer of 1947 to Christmas 1946. Tiomkin's score was a casualty; according to the liner notes "music was repositioned within the film, cues were replaced by other composer's work, and in many cases Tiomkin's cues were excised completely...the score was considered somewhat somber; too dark in places."
