I keep seeing this silver T2 CD in stores, I want to buy it because it looks good. How is the music? I love the Main Title, but is the rest any good? Most review sites don't seem to like it at all.

Yes, it's excellent in the film, but awful on its own (and this is coming from a "film music as not related to the film"-appreciator, mind you). It's really a mish-mash of electronic clings and clangs, devoid of any musical structure. It's more of a "sound design" than an actual score. It's either annoyingly subdued (drone-like) or overbearingly noisy. But I agree with you that the main theme has a certain minimalistic, carpenterian quality, evoking an apocalyptic, machine-driven landscape (the techno beat) where human-beings struggle to survive (the mournful, mad maxian melody). Stay away from it. PS: It is a bit odd that Fiedel, seeing as he comes from such a strong musical family, has deteriorated into creating anonymous, electronic drone-scores over the years. I'm sure (or at least hope) that he is fully capable of more traditional music as well (how about a romantic comedy or something like that?).

I have to agree with everything Thor said, you´ll be better off with buying a cheap compilation with the theme on it and leave the rest, a waste of money. Fiedel has done a few orchestral scores, but they´re mostly non-descript as well (i.e. The Accused). Most of his scores fall into the drone category (i.e. Terminator, Fright Night etc.) Only True Lies has some merit to it, but not much. Np- Chigaco Joe and The Showgirl

So what is the difference between the CD with Arnold on the bike, and this silver cd? Is it just the artwork? Anyone know? I've never seen a silver one.

I haven't seen the silver case either-never knew it was around.Personally, I love the music. It is one of the best action scores. And, if you want instrumentals, listen to "Desert Theme" and "Sarah's Dream". It really is great.
