I'm just starting to get into the whole rejected score thing by purchasing copies of What Dreams May Come, Air Force One and Legend. The rejected score to the 13th Warrior has been talked about numerous times and I was wondering if anyone could give their opinion on it? Sort of like a small review before I foolishly purchase a cd which might not be that good in the first place.

Thanks for your help.

Graeme Revell composed it, right? Going by that, I wouldn't hold much hope for it. Sorry if you're a Revell fan, but I've never been very impressed by his work, though I do enjoy the majority of Hard Target and selections from The Saint. I'd try to find sound on-line sound samples of the score first, if any exists, before buying it.

Well, I've heard it. Score bad. Score not so good. It's pretty much a rip-off of Braveheart (if you can believe that) with two genuinely enjoyable tracks (one with the processed drumming that Newman used in Mad City and Howard used in The Postman; if you have both of those, you'll know the drums---they're in the Main Title cues of both). Pretty much a waste of time.

I heard a piece of this and for once Shaun and I are in total agreement what a crappy score this is. And it's aweful to see that cool drum machine piece that Thomas Newman and JNH both used in their respective scores for Mad City and Postman. just horrible no wonder Michael Crichton threw it out once he took over 13th Warrior. Goldsmith's is definetly the one to get.
