Hot on the heels of last month's Salter-Skinner CD, Marco Polo has released ROY WEBB's THE CAT PEOPLE [8.225125] (Classic Music for the Val Lewton Films). This new recording is conducted by William Stromberg with the Slovak Radio Symphony, with yours truly doing the reconstruction-orchestration. The album runs 69:53 and the detailed production notes are by Scott MacQueen in a 36 page booklet.
I know Craig Spaulding has this album in stock:SCREEN ARCHIVES ENTERTAINMENT

Thanks John, I love the old Val Lewton movies (I used to watch them as a teen...haven't seen them recently though) and Roy Webb's music was always wonderfully atmospheric....a very highly underrated composer in my opinion. I'll be ordering my copy as soon as I've got some spare cash....been spending a lot of money on DVD's lately for my new projector and CD purchases have dropped of late. Keep us posted on future releases. Cheers Gae
NP House of Frankenstein ***** (hows that for a bit of advertising John...I'll collect my commission later... just kidding!!)

I have been waiting for this CD ever since it was first announced.I love these Val Lewton films for starters and the RKO sound of Roy Webb. I already have the Curse of the Cat People CD, The Seventh Victim (conducted by Stanley Black), the Notorious suite (on Varese), and the Enchanted Cottage (on an Entr'Acte LP), and this is a real welcome addition. There just isn't enough Webb out there and I'm really looking forward to hearing what these scores sound like fresh and in stereo.
Thanks again John and I'm looking forward to Objective Burma, the Arnolds, and Snows of Kilimanjaro!
