If we're going to coordinate, I NEED you to approve the "final" plan before it's too late! Comprende? Alright! Let's DO IT! YEAH!PS - Chris ... the last minute is approaching rapidly! We're all pullin' for ya! I know I'm putting in a good word with the Big Man tonite.

What he said, Christopher and Bonita. And whoever else might show at the last second. Can you cross your toes as well as your fingers? Some of us can. And will. (Okay, not ALL the toes, I didn't say I was a miracle worker.)

Are all you guys sitting together as well, or just planning to meet before and after?I'm so jealous. I think I'll go cry myself to sleep while my Silva Goldsmith compilation plays in the background.
Will somebody please think of me while you're enjoying the music? I would appreciate it.
Rocco - I got ya beat. Not only can I cross my fingers and toes, but I can also cross me teeth. It hurts like hell and I can't eat for weeks, but I can do it!

It's midnight here.....I leave at 6:30am.....and I'm so excited I can't sleep! Wedge, everything in your e-mail sounded cool to me. I'm glad that we're going to try to spend more than a perfunctory 30 minutes with each other. Spending the bulk of Friday running around as a group will allow us to come to know each other a little.Plus the score discussions/arguments, rabble-rousing, and whatnot......
Dantoris, I'll be thinking of ya (my fellow RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK nut!); as well as Brad, Marian, Joan, Jeron, Chris (should he not make it), Thor, and our other friends who could not attend. I'll buy about 20 programs, for those that want 'em.
See y'all when I get back!

Oddly enough, some of us WILL be sitting together, although it wasn't planned that way: it turns out that me, Hatfield, Rutherford and his buddy (who apparently doesn't post here) will be sitting ALL IN A ROW on Friday! As for where and how we'll meet, that almost still remains anyone's guess (Wedge has some not-bad ideas), but I'll repost this piece of info: Rocco and Hatfield are at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Hotel. The room will be registered under the name of Mark Hatfield.
Mark is already making noises about "maybe we should've gotten Saturday tickets as well." I think that might be arrangeable ... hell, why not, we're already there ... you can only watch GAPPA so many times
Cross your teeth away, dantoris, it might be good for your circulation. Wish you could be there. Same for all the rest of you who won't be able to be present. (Joan, Marian, Mr. InSanDiego, Andre, possibly Chris and Bonita -- who knows, they might yet manifest! -- and everyone else who counts and whose names I can't remember this second -- as Dega writes to Papillon, and as Papillon repeats to himself towards the end of the movie -- "My thoughts are with you.")
(rub rub rub rub r -- aah, you know.)

Mark - So you're the one who was seeing Raiders. I was going crazy trying to recall who you were. How was it? And if you really are buying programs for the people who couldn't make it, I want one!Have fun y'all.

Heya, Dantoris!Well, seeing RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK on the big screen again (way back in February, at a film festival here) was......epiphanic. The print was okay - but just getting to see how BIG the movie really is (and the sublime sound design) was really special.
I'm one of those whackos who saw it 30+ times in the theater when it came out (including 3 times on its opening day; I was still a month or so shy of turning 18!). I'm not kidding you when I say that I cried when the movie started, and again during the key scenes.
Still the best movie ever, man.
While I am not (now) going to be able to sleep, I MUST sign off and finish packing & "burning" CD's. Consider the program a done deal, Dantoris: send me your "snail" address. I'm myspark@hotmail.com
God bless, all.

Shucks, Brad, I'm wallowing in self pity right now and probably wouldn't be any help.
Kicking myself for not going. Living vicariously isn't the same as the real experience. Still I wish all those yahoo sweeties the best time of their lives and look forward to H Rocco's write ups and rub, rub, rubs.NP Jerry Goldsmith's SPFM..Might as well pour salt on the wounds.

Enjoy it!Actually, when are you all going? Just so I know when to start our little message board party for those who have to stay. And if Chris really can't make it, he'll be our guest of honor (now, do you really still want to go? What's seeing Jerry in concert when compared to being guest of honor? ).
And thanks again for the programs, Mark!

I didn't get an e-mail. You probably planned it that way... the e-mail probably says "Let's not tell that geek/jerk/whatever James so we don't have to deal with him" or something. *sniffle*Well I hope I don't see you there either!

I feel left outMarian, that JG compilation you mention is terrific, sound quality is amazing. Yeah, the synths in Trek were not very good, but everything else is fantastic. MASADA is my favourite.
I love Goldsmith scores!!!!!!!posted 06-02-2000 11:03 AM PT (US) Marian Schedenig

Hm, I have mixed feelings about that compilation. The sound quality is excellent, and some pieces are performed really well. But others, especially those relying more on synths, pale when compared to the original recordings. The Trek Suite for example, or Total Recall (it seems to me that they left out a whole synthesizer line here). The choral stuff sounds weird, too. On the other hand, there's lots of stuff on the 2 CDs which I don't know in any other form, and those are generally fine. Masada is a favourite, and Under Fire is great, too. The Great Train Robbery isn't as good as the original, but comes pretty close. All in all, it was worth it.

James! But I DID e-mail you! Just a few minutes after the others! Didn't you get it? You'll be at the Sunday concert, right? Hatfield, Rocco, and Howard L will be there. Hatfield is very tall, Rocco and Howard are more on the short side. Rocco's hair is very dark. Wish I could give you better descriptions. After the concert, you can probably find them out at the right side of the building, waiting for JG to make his appearance. Good luck! Have fun!Oh ... and I had the good fortune to see "Raiders" on the big screen earlier this year -- a special screening at MSU. The print was old and dirty, but the scope was undiminished.

Confound you, Ameritech!! You sent it to the Ameritch.net address, right? No, I didn't get it, and that's been happening a lot lately with that address. If you can get another one to me before 10:30 AM Central time today, then I would love it if you tried sending it to captecco@aol.com .If the AOL address is the one you sent it to in the first place, then I'm probably out of luck.
Sorry about that little outburst above, I wasn't serious about it.
Thank you,

I’m glad to see Wedge’s post. No way would they
have left James out. Interesting world with living
integration. A neat, cool “charter member” meeting
some neat, cool FSMers! And I know they will like
each other.

I need some help here, folks. Can anyone contact James? I am surprised and sad to see that he was feeling "left out". You're right, Joan - no WAY would I have let that happen, if I had known.I will try e-mailing James - cross your fingers, I KNOW you have more of 'em than I do! - and hopefully can meet. James, if you're reading this (or if there is someone out there that can get this info to him): "H Rocco" and I are sitting in the balcony for Sunday's performance. We will be out in front of the concert hall prior to the performance & at intermission; Wedge's assertion that we will be to the right of the hall after the performance, waiting for another chance to speak with Mr. Goldsmith & get some more autographs, is correct. IMMEDIATELY after the show, come out of the hall. AS YOU ARE EXITING ONTO THE SIDEWALK, make a left. Turn left again at the edge/corner of the building. Head roughly diagonally to your right - you'll have to walk across some grass - there is a plain, wooden stair set-up next to an exit. There will be a about a dozen or so of us (if yesterday night is any indication) waiting for Mr. Goldsmith to exit (he is a smoker, BTW; yet he put off his first drag to accomodate us - VERY cool). I am 6'5" tall, about 225, "soldier-build" (for lack of a better term). I have often been told that I strongly resemble the actor Judge Reinhold; and I will wave - with my left hand - at everyone I see. You won't mistake the wave; I have 2 and 1/2 fingers on that hand.
I do so hope to meet you, James.
Take it easy, everyone. More later.

Hey, Hatfield! How DID you get access to the internet? Local library computer? Hope you got SOME sleep last night after the euphoria wore off. I wonder if Shaun and Tony made it home in one piece.NP - "Walking with Dinosaurs" by Benjamin Bartlett

Hey again,
Yes, Wedge, we did get home in one piece. Pictures are developed, but of relatively poor quality (except the one with all of you guys standing in the elevator, which is really cool). Good ones of Tony sleeping at the wheel on the ride home.Mark, go home and listen to "T-Rex Rescue" from Jurassic Park, man! It's awesome! Just wanted to remind you of that.
Again, have a good one, guys! Hug Jerry for me, Mark! Hopefully you won't puncture his lung like you did mine! Hah!

If I could ask a favor from somebody going to the Sunday concert: if you get a chance to talk to Goldsmith, would you ask him what brand/type of baton he uses?

I can tell you ONE thing about his baton: he gave it away to someone in the front row, seemingly at random, after his last curtain call at the Sunday concert. I think that was his way of saying "sorry, no encore."
