I read at DVDFile that the upcoming DVD of THE OMEN, unlike the laser disc, will NOT have an isolated score track!!!!! Pretty disappointing especially considering that Fox DVD has given Goldsmith a fitting showcase with ALIEN and PATTON and the fact that this is Goldsmith's sole Academy Award winner. C'mon Fox!...have a heart.

The "Broken Vows" cue is one of the best cues in the film (they play it twice, I believe), as is the spine-tingling (it actually TINGLES!) cue for when Mrs. Baylock is revealed (which is actually creepier in the pan and scan version, as Billie Whitelaw's 'uge fright'nin' head fills up the entire frame) to the strains of "SANCTUS, almost funny answer from woodwinds (are they woodwinds?), "IGEEBOO", and higher pitched woodwinds. Anyway, the Varese album is short about 20 minutes or less, but the "Broken Vows" cue would be great to have.

    Shaun

NP---Alien 3 (or is it Interview With The Vampire, Batman Forever, Cobb, Heat, Sphere, or Titus? Damn these mislabled scores! Somebody should try this: take back a James Horner or Elliot Goldenthal CD and say, "I paid for the BICENTENNIAL MAN score and on the CD is Braveheart, The Spitfire Grill, The Rocketeer, Sneakers, and Searching For Bobby Fischer!! I want my money back, you rotten fools!!!")

PS: Shaun, all that Alien³, Vampire and Batman Forever have in common is Goldenthal's style!

NP: Symphony #10 (Dmitri Shostakovich; Berliner Philharmoniker/Karajan)

Maybe Fox will secretly surprise us. After all PATTON was anamorphic although it wasn't advertised as being so. Thanks to everyone for agreeing with my "grr" but Rocco and Marian could you go back and edit a few hundred of those r's so that we don't have to scroll back and forth???

I don't think Fox will be able to surprise us. Reportedly, the Apes set has been at least more or less finished for quite some time. It's said to have been on of their first experiments with DVD, and should at least be the last non-anamorphic DVDs they'll do.

Hey, anyone who has "The Omen" laser...

Did you notice that the album version "The Alter" is heard on the isolated score track and not the film version?

    Wierd.

Marian, if by style you mean "the exact same music over and over", you're right.

Peter Staddon from Fox Home video resides over at the Home Theatre Forum and is always chatting with us, giving us feedback about upcoming discs...etc...etc. Lovely guy.

Anyway, it is promissed that the Apes saga will be the last ever non-anamorphic discs from the studio.

The first movie will be available separetly, while the others are only availble in the box set of all the movies + an extra making of disc.

No, I'm not using the Horner definition of "style".

NP: Te Deum (Anton Bruckner; Eugen Jochum) - More than highly recommended!
