Hey!
Does anyone know if there is going to be another Star Trek film? I can't find any info about one in the works!
Hope someone has an answer!
Later!

Recent news on the web (either at Aint-It-Cool or SciFi.com) had Berman and company talking about the next Trek TV series, which is due to start in the Fall of 2001. Voyager is slated to end it's run in Spring of 2001. No news on if the new series will be on UPN or syndicated.Kinda wish they'd all take a break. The franchise is getting kind of stale (though I have liked some of the recent Voyager's, including Neelix's haunted house story).

I think I read somewhere after Insurrection, they wanted to take a 3 year hiatus on the movies instead of 2 years.
Also read Brent Spiner wanted his Data character killed of, cuz he (Spiner) was getting too old to maintain Data's appearance.I'm curious as to what a new TV series would entail. I think they would need more character development in it. The other series had some sort of continuity in them, whereas Voyager's incidents never ring past the next week's preview. "That's soooo annoying!" Kinda like the Next Generation's movies.

YES, there is going to be a Star Trek X:
Paramount has officially greenlighted the project and a script writer has already been hired (A real one this time!!) Also Rick Berman's influence will be kept to minimum. It is also said that Star Trek X will finally feature a real space battle the likes we should never have seen before. Personally (for me) the best battle scenes are in "Wrath of Khan" and "Undiscovered Country".I am a subscriber to Tom Veils newsletter ever since he put up his website about Star Trek IX. It is located at www.theflagship.net
Recommend you guys sign up too, if you want to be kept aprised off all rumours and facts.Star Trek X will be premiering in cinemas before the new Star Trek Television series, which was planned for 2001. Production has pushed this up to 2002. The movie is slated for the end of 2001/beginning 2002. This is the standard release date for any Star Trek franchise since Star Trek V.

I strongly second Foobsie's TheFlagship recommendation. Although I'm a bit confused now. Who's Tom Veil and who's Jack Witzig? Both names sound familiar to me, but my latest newsletter has the name Jack Witzig, and I think those before it have it, too.NP: Donnie Brasco (Doyle)

Well, from what I just read on Cinescape's website, there are no set times for a new series and/or movie. In fact, Berman himself states that they haven't got the go-ahead from Paramount for either one.Better stay tuned.

Star Trek X should have cast members from all the movies and shows in one giant movie
all the race sand stuff also. it should be the kick-assest movie ever. ahh but i'm just dreaming now huh? mabye the voyager crew will crash into DS9 and they will all be destroyed, with the next generation vs the old guys after a bad influence with the Q continium...then tbe Borg collective can clash with the ferengi, klingon empire, romulans..and the vulcans will be the only race left standing high and mighty and all logical...no feeling beings will be left and the star trek franchise will be ruined forever....woah...that was a mix of bashing and coolness..sorry about that guys. that was all freewrite. no planning involved. i'm just bored. i'll shut up now.
hmm..wait. base the next show on earth..and make it like a huge ds9. now we're talkin'! it would be nice to see earth of the 24th century. huh?

Brent Spiner feels he's too old to continue Data? Yo Brent - those genuis make-up guys in Hollywood can make anybody look any age.I heard that if Patrick Stewart leaves after the next one, that the torch would be passed on to Cmdr. Riker as the captain of the Enterprise.
Just as long as they don't make any DS9 or VOYAGER feature films, I'll be happy.

AaronR1074, your hallucinogenic Trek fantasy could actually be done...if the writers would take a tip from an old TV series called Dallas. On that show they had one entire season of episodes where everything was turned upside-down. All of the characters and situations were totally screwed up...and at the end of the last show of the season, the main character WAKES UP from her DREAM!
BINGO!
Next season they picked up right where they left off!
Trek should do a movie like that...where everything goes BLOOEY! But it's all a dream...or someone goes back in time to push the button that will fix it all.If it's fun, I'll watch it.

Chris, your suggestion about it was only a dream is what I wish Trek would do for everything in the franchise starting with "Search For Spock"!

Data can't be killed off... we already saw him alive and well 20-some years in the future on "All Good Things," the last episode of The Next Generation! *gasp*Oh well... and this week on Voyager Seven had her "first" dream.... NO SHE DIDN'T! Her first dream was on "Raven," just a few episodes after she joined! *gasp gasp*

that's why Voyager sucks. absolutely no continuity.I remember that Raven show. One of the few I've watched in recent years. It said something about her family going out in search of Borg.
But there's a TNG where Q introduces Borg to humanity, etc, for the first time with the snap of a finger. How did Seven's family know about Borg to go search for them?

James, remember... in "All Good Things," that was an alternate future. At the end Picard knew that the future would turn out different than it did in his time shifts.Also... yeah, the "1st dream" thing was quite a fallacy... but oh well. The season finale still kicked major @ss! I'm anxious to see how they get Janeway, Tuvoc, and Torres back from the Borg... and of course, Susanne Thompson as the Borg Queen has done an impecable job once again! Alice Krige still tops her as the original, though.

JJH -
If you're going to say Voyager sucks, at least give some more valid reasons, because EVERY Trek show has had massive continuity problems. Go read a Phil Farrand book. Also, I believe the problem you mentioned about "Raven" is false... if I'm not mistaken, Anica's family did not go after the Borg... there were merely explorers who wanted to go into the Delta quadrant because they didn't know what was out there. They didn't find out about the Borg themselves until much later, and by then they were far out of contact with any other friendly beings (including humans).
Jeron-
Ah, yes, thank you. I forgot about that.James

Obviously, I missed that on The Raven show.
I could have sworn they actually went out to search for Borg. OH well. no big deal.Well, I thought I did state, a few times, one of the reasons why I don't like Voyager very much:
continuity. Sure they all have continuity problems.
But, not one thing on Voyager ever has any ramifications later on in the show. They play with time travel, everything of course ends up okay. For example, I do believe the Borg altered the ship at one point. Next episode that I recall seeing, it was back to normal with no explanation. Hey, I probably missed a few in there, so if there is a reason, do tell me. That, and it's been a few years.
And last, but not least, I don't think any of the characters are engaging in any way. Just can't get into them, like I could DS9 and TNG. DS9 felt like it had a purpose, like the whole show, for the most part, was leaning to some logical conclusion. Voyager doesn't have that feel to me. And I admit, that I haven't watched it that much over the last year. Mostly for the reasons I stated above.
But I think I'll watch the next season, just to see what happens.NP -- Othello, Charlie Mole

I for one have been able to get into all of the characters in every show. DS9 was more of a space soap... where as Voyager takes on more of the TNG attitude w/ a few twists. I like the different approaches taken in both DS9 and VOY. DS9 pulled on more of my heart strings. In regards to the characters on Voyager... Janeway always evokes a sense of honor and pride in me. I think that is in part because she is, after all, a woman. The feminist aspects are there, yeah... but her purpose runs deeper than that. She's not afraid to stand up for what she believes in... and in a society like this, it's very encouraging seeing a female captain conduct herself in the manner Captain Janeway does. It's just completely awesome. Many kudos to Kate Mulgrew for doing an awesome job every episode.Anyway, that's one of MANY reasons I enjoy the show so much.
But hey... I must get to sleep.

jjh is correct: according to the otherwise-slammin' "dark frontier" (which also had Her Royal Hyperelegance sus thompson, to whom krige cannot hold a Candle btw!) 7o9's parents were hot on the borg trail long b4 1701d. a clear-cut case of canon revision, one which i'm sure the trek magazine letters section'll have no tribble atall explaining away
i generally view voy as a saturday matinee serial, a la buck rogers (or maybe captain proton?
)- well-done, often-cartoonish entertainment. i've no problem with this; i think that this kind of thing does have a place in the trek universe. trek doesn't always have to be super-deep; otherwise it begins to take the "fun" out of proFundity (e.g., far too many eps of the overrated next generation)
that said, i rather like aaron's notion of the vulcans being left standing all high & mighty
unlike many i've never had a problem with mulgrew- i even dug her years ago when she guested as a sam malone love interest on "cheers". though i do wish she'd switch back to that sleek, parted-on-the-side coif she had near voy's beginning, right after her original schoolmarm 'do (which also wasn't bad, but i'd still prefer this one, provided she can steal it back from 7o9
)

I still disagree (I'm with Jeron), but I won't worry about it.
Here's to Voyager and their endless supply of shuttlecraft!
