OK guys, I've got a huge CDR in the works which features nothing but scores by Hans Zimmer. The problem is, I can't come up with a title!! I plan to give this CD to various friends and relatives. So a title would be way cool!

So what's the contest? Whoever comes up with the best, coolest, most imaginative title wins a copy of the CD!! Yeah baby!! Here's a complete track listing to help you:

    1-3) Days of Thunder

PS - These are all original tracks! None of these have been reconducted or edited in anyway. They are direct recordings from the original motion picture scores.

But this is about your CD, sorry :-)
Hmm I always thought one of a composers most famous track titles would be good for a compliation.
So how about "Too Many Notes, Not Enough Rest", or "The Drop Zone"

    Oh and Andre,
    Thank you for humbling yourself.

    Otherwise, how about:

As much as I don't really like Zimmer, I had to come by this. Almost glad I did, as TimT gave you the perfect title:

Too Many Notes, Not Enough Rests

I also liked Journey To The Line, but the Drop Zone crib is excellent.

    UPDATE!!

My Zimmer CD is completed. But I had to do ALOT of trimming to get the stuff that I really wanted to on one disc. Well, the bitch was the fact that I forgot how long some of his tracks were. So here is a nice, well rounded 13 track CD, which runs about 73 minutes long (still a nice lenthly disc). I had to ommit The Lion King, Peacemaker, Gladiator & Thin Red Line. The result is still quite remarkable:

    1-2) Days of Thunder
    -Main Title
    - Car Building
    3) Thelma & Louise - The Decision/End Credits
    4) Backdraft - Show Me Your Firetruck
    5) Point of No Return - Happy Birthday, Maggie
    6) True Romance - You're So Cool
    7) Black Rain - Nick & Masa
    8) The Rock - The Chase
    9) Broken Arrow - Main theme "Broken Arrow"
    10) Crimson Tide - Roll Tide
    11) Drop Zone - Too Many Notes/Not Enough Rests
    12 - 13) The Prince of Egypt
    - The Burning Bush/Moses Tells tzipporah/Journey Back To Egypt
    - Chariot Race/Finale

Eh...mabye when I have enough material I can make a second disc!

TimT gave me an idea...how about "Too Many Notes, Not Enough Movies!"

Aaron, thats a pretty good compilation CD, but I'm pretty sure that Zimmer didn't write "The Chase" from the Rock, I though it was Harry Gregson-Williams.

    Richard,
I got really frustrated with The Rock because none of liner notes credited who composed what tracks. So I just figured that since "The Chase" sounded like Zimmer, I might as well throw it on there. Does anybody know which cues are really his?

I actually read somewhere that Zimmer had only composed the theme for THE ROCK and a couple other cues, but that Gregson-Williams Glennie-Smith had composed nearly the entire score. So I would assume they rock "The Chase."

Why doesn't Zimmer write his own chase scores? Gavin Greenaway did "Devoe's Revenge" for THE PEACEMAKER. (Has this guy done anything else?)

Yes Hans Zimmer only wrote a couple themes from The Rock for Gleenie-Smith to use as inspiration, and the majority of it is Nick Gleen-Smith work with additional cues by Gregson-Williams.

Gavin Greenaway has done many European films I'm told.
Other stuff he's worked on was Face/Off, Forces of Nature,The Borrowers, and Disney's Millenium Celebration.

Zimmer gave Greenaway the credit on Peacemaker because Greenaway structured the track that Zimmer wrote (Devoe's Revenge) I think I read an interview at Chris Caine's Zinfo that was with Harry Gregson-Williams; and he did say that he wrote the car chase sequence in The Rock.

Sean - So you're saying Zimmer just wrote, like, the basic idea for the "Devoe's Revenge" track, then let Greenaway connect the dots (so to speak) and put it all together?

    Interesting.

Yeah, something like that (...regarding "Devoe's Revenge") Zimmer said that he basically wrote the track and Gavin Greenaway fixed it up and maybe re-orchestrated the thing, but basically that Greenaway worked so much on it that it would be good to have him credited.

    MWRuger,
I loved the last one "Tracking the Master: A Hans Zimmer Retrospective." It doesn't say anthing but what the CD is all about. Portraying how Zimmer's style changes over the years from his simple synth/rock tunes like True Romance and Point of No Return to full-blown orchestral masterpieces like Crimson Tide and Prince of Egypt. Very nice.

I've narrowed the candidates down to two:

"Hans Zimmer: Too Many Notes, Not Enough Movies" --->Thnx to TimT for the enfluence!

"Tracking the Master: A Hans Zimmer Retrospective."

I'm still open to suggestions! You all have `till next week to submit
