Ok, after hearing some clips on John Scotts work. I plan to get a few of his scores, and I'd like some opinions on the following.

Becoming Collete (I think this is his latest)
    20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
Far from Home: Yellow Dog Adventure
    Second Jungle Book

Also recomend something with Choir, like Antony and Cleopatra

    Thanks alot

    TimT,
you REALLY need to find Greystoke. Only available as far as I know on LP, or CDR transfer.

    Ok.
Well the ones I listed were interesting ones that I found availible at in Intrada and Footlight.

I see that Greystoke is a bootleg, so that might be tuff to find. But I'll keep and eye out.
    Thanks for the recomendation

I'm really partial to his score for "The Final Countdown."

Supposedly there is going to be an expanded version of it, but I haven't heard anything lately.

The John Scott website is at http://webhome.idirect.com/~rlevy/

Greystoke is a given as others have said. Scott's discography is quite limited but if you can find them get The Whistle Blower, Man on Fire, King Kong Lives (great action score), The Final Countdown (this is due to be rereleased soon), Shogun Myeda, any or all of his Cousteau scores, and Winter People/Prayer for The Dying (two scores bundled on one CD).

Another vote for GREYSTOKE here... at least I got the LP, but I wish to see this one released on CD one day. (Especially since I don't have a turntable anymore ) I'd love to see some more by John Scott out there.

I agree with Scott. "Far From Home" is a great listen. There is only one irritating thing from the score that can be heard in the main titles: A high instrument that sounds like whistling. Its inclusion quickly becomes grating, but the full orchestral performances of the main theme are superb. It has a great theme too. I haven't heard it in a very long time, but I still remember it. Basically, it's a good "outdoor" score.

KING KONG LIVES is an epic, awe-inspiring score, superb action and enthralling romance all in the same package. If you find the promo (or is it a boot) with the bonus cues from his terse, brilliant suspense/action score SHOOT TO KILL, then more the better. I'd like to have that one myself, but am not about to spend the money when I already own the American LP AND the Japanese CD (much better cover, and the promo-or-boot uses it as well.)

You can't go wrong with "John Scott Conducts His Own Favorite Film Themes."

Isn't ANYONE going to issue his magnificent PEOPLE THAT TIME FORGOT? That's the movie that made me notice him in the first place ...

Antony and Cleopatra by John Scott/ Where is it?

Ok so most of you are mentioning Far from Home. Greystoke I found but it cost too much.
So can anyone tell me what Sencond Jungle Book and 20,000 Leauges Under the Sea is like?

Tim T, this is weird. I just looked on this thread to find that a posting of mine from an hour ago was missing, so I posted again. Then when I was forwarded back to the thread your reply was there and...SO WAS MY ORIGINAL POST. Now I look like a complete idiot. BTW, you're probably right on the "Antony..."location. DOH!!! Anyway, THE SECOND JUNGLE BOOK is gorgeous containing Scott's trademark "BIG" theme and so many small motifs it's near impossible to count. The recording is very close and present, the orchestrations excellent as usual. One of my faves. 20,000 LEAGUES is also another beauty, very sea-faring in parts with a drop dead gorgeous track featuring a wordless soprano entitled "Mount Atlantis". The music fares much better on disc than it did in the disastrous Tv Movie (Richard Crenna version), where it was hampered by imcredibly pedestrian direction, acting, and special effects. Highly recommend both of them. BECOMING COLLETTE is also extremely beautiful and has some great pastiche source cues. Ah, hell...ANY JOHN SCOTT IS GREEEEAAATTTT!!!!

P.S. If this post disappears too, I'll go insane.
