Who are some people who, when you found out they had composed film or [classical] concert works you were very surprised? This question arose when I found out that Michael Moriarty (the actor!) had composed a number of such concert pieces. (The only one available on CD is a piece called "Simplicity" for oboe and guitar.)
Who can you name?

anyone have Wynton Marsalis' rejected score to Rosewood?I think it's available at Sony Classical under a different title, but I haven't heard it yet, obviously.
Wynton's a great musician, but I am not too sure of his composing abilities.

Anyone heard anything by author Anthony Burgess? It seems he was very literate musically. I'm reading his Earthly Powers at the moment. George Antheil (who did some scores like The Pride And The Prejudice in Hollywood) makes an appearance in it.And I've seen astronomer Patrick Moore deftly playing the xylophone. I think he's composed some concert stuff too.

The Pride The Prejudice? That's HILARIOUS! It was, of course, another of my deliberate mistakes.
