Hey guys! I just wanted people to know here on the general information board that I am putting together a diary of sorts on the making of my film, Cause & Effect. The diary is located in the JUST MOVIES folder. Any comments or insights would be greatly appreciated. Now, how does this relate to movie MUSIC? How about the fact that our own Aaron Collins is tapped to score the film!!!!!

Thanks in advance to all of you who visit and comment. I shall continue to update the thread as something new happens!

Also, PeterK has posted the films "poster" up somewhere...but I'll be darned if I have a clue as to where it is...sigh...

AND...HRocco has registered the film with the Internet Movie DataBase...my most humble thanks, Your H'Ness!!

    AND!!!!

Pretty soon, I'll be sending Moviemusic.Com's famous Jeron Moore the info he needs to start up the OFFICIAL Cause & Effect Web Page!!

So, once again, my thanks to ALL of you for giving me these opportunities!

    Joe

    Joe,

The poster for CAUSE AND EFFECT is most artistic
and IMPRESSIVE! (Check it out, everyone! Aaron's name is also on it.)

The words “A Joe Rixman film” must bring you an almost out-
of-this-world feeling. Very few things in life bring as much rapture
and exultation as the personal creative act.

Just hope I’m around to see your future bring Oscars, the Irving
Thalberg award, and let’s throw in the Life Time Achievement
    award for good measure.

A very nice poster. Professional-looking. It almost gives the impression that this is a documentary, though. Is that intended?

I wish I had this type of artworks for "MY" film (re thread: "my film is online - see it!"). But you are of course operating in a different league than I am, Joe...

Yes, a definite improvement over the previous one. Same image, but as I told him at the time, the first one was too photorealistic for comfort. (My exact words were along the lines of "nothing grosses people out like needles in the arm. Never mind if it's what the picture's about.") This new one is more surreally colored, and hence, not as alienating. I'd be proud to think it was me who Mr. InSanDiego listened to, but he never said so, so who the hell knows. (Actually I thought he might have been P.O.ed that I even SAID that, but he asked my opinion and I gave it. He's subsequently forwarded the credits at least, so I guess we're still speaking.)

As soon as the credits info appears on the IMDb, I will let you all know. Or someone else will beat me to it. Who knows.

Keep up the good work, brother.

    JJH,

    This is indeed Jeron's artwork!

Joe's movie is gonna be great and I have no douut he will succeed in life.

As for Jeron, he does awesome graphics and is a hard worker. He will also be a huge film director!

The making of the poster for Cause & Effect:

I took a picture (digital camera) of Brett with a needle and sent the pic to Jeron, who then came up with the idea (mirroring mine) of a dark blue background fading into black as you look lower on the poster. Great minds think alike, you know...hehehe...

It turned out better than I could have hoped. Jeron put some mist effects in it that were a little hard to see, but nonetheless effective.

As I was playing with one of the art programs on my computer, I accidentally hit the "color negative" button and out popped what you see now.

The mist effect was enhanced and the surreal, almost scaley effect of Brett's arm (making him look somewhat skeletal) added to what I felt was the disturbing factor of the image. Another effect Jeron put in (which was pure genious in my opinion) was to give the syringe a GLOW, which the color negative ALSO enhanced greatly.

So, incredible work on Jeron's part and a mistake on my part created the image you see now.

The universe works in mysterious ways, but always to make things just a little bit different (and more often than not better) than originally intended.

I am grateful to Mr. Moore for his work on this (and excited about his working on the official web site) and to all of you who have responded enthusiastically to both the poster and the project in general.

Filming has been postponed this week due to a very sad incident occuring in my life right now...I just discovered that one of my kitties has a massive liver tumor and she is not expected to live much longer. Due to this horrible discovery and the fact that I am taking a MUCH NEEDED three day holiday to Las Vegas this weekend, it was decided to hold off on shooting until my return. However, I have decided to incorporate my kitty into the film, albeit in a small way. There will be a picture of her that we will get to see in the film...a touching tribute to her I think...and, in context of the story line, appropriate.
