It's the same when you buy VHS movies in Widescreen, i.e Star Wars coz the mr stupid head George Lucas won't release it on DVD, grrrrrr, but anyway, you take your copy of the movie, which is in widescreen and the clerk says "are you sure you want this one, it's in widescreen, some people don't like it", and you think to yourself "Nnnnnnoooooooooo, I don't want it in widescreen, that's why I searched through several shelves to find a copy with WIDESCREEN printed along the top, that and the fact I just wanted to make sure YOU could read and point out the fact I can't and am such a doofus I'll pick up the wrong version."
They should have asked me "would you like a copy that works properly? becasue this one is broken."Stupid tape has lines rolling though it.
...and it's not the tracking.

Dave,I had the same experience here with Rules of Engagement. No one has it, yet it's done pretty well, and has Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel L Jackson. I would have surely the stores would have about 5 copies each, at least.
When the Jesus CDs came out a couple weeks ago, there about 1 billion song discs, and exactly ONE blue score CD.
I have noticed however, that it seems Chris Young's score CD to The Hurricane seems to be doing pretty well. In my area of course.

Again, re: widescreen, go back to my comments about the American public being completely brain dead. They see the movie box. That's all they look at.As far as sales go, around Halloween, we must've sold 5 copies of Portrait Of Terror (5 may not seem like a lot, but it is here) to people who actually came in and ASKED FOR THE ALBUM BY NAME! I was flabbergasted the first time. I couldn't believe that this 12 year old kid wanted the Halloween H20 score and KNEW that it was called Portrait Of Terror on album! It was freaky! Anyway, The 13th Warrior was selling pretty well until I took the initiative to order 10 copies of it in (we only usually get 1 or 2 copies of Varese stuff at a time). After that, one copy was sold, 8 were pulled, and one sits on the shelf now.
Anyway, people---I feel your pain.

After this latest fiasco with SUPERMAN I've decide I won't even bother asking the store clerks. I will just drive to Austin or Dallas to buy my scores or order online from Intrada or Footlight. Boy imagine the even more dazed and confused looks if I were to ask for any Ifukube selections or the expanded KRULL. Reminds me of one time when I was in a store and I overheard two people, probably 19 to 22 range. Anyhow one picks up the score to ID4 (the movie had been out for 4 months) and turns to his buddy and says" yo, who sings on this album?" I kinds sighed to myself and started to snicker. I remeber buying STARSHIP TROOPERS and the clerk asking me "you like this kinda music" or another asking me about SMALL SOLDIERS, "you know this is the score album?" Nah the friggin stupid yellow sticker on it didn't alert me. Oh well.

I remember how difficult was my MOONRAKER score to buy.
I was just 11 YO, and the girl at the store really could noy undertand WHY, after a quickly listen, I'm taking the LP home!
Funny...About widescreen... few people here knows what it is, I don't even argue anymore1

MARK OLIVAREZ!I remember our shared interest in Ifukube scores ... have you had any luck finding them on the net? Apart from Intrada, I mean. Because there ARE American and European releases of his CLASSICAL works (which, really, are must-hears if you like his stuff at all -- I've mentioned before that the music tends to overlap.)
I mention it in part because through computer modules set up at various stores, you can easily track down the fact that such albums WERE issued in the U.S. and Europe. My own copy of Ifukube's "Bintatara" is an American issue, and I didn't have to pay import prices for it, either.
There's supposed to be a very recent rerecording of some of his older, noncollected movie themes, but I haven't gotten my own paws on it yet. No doubt I'll mention it when I do.
Just a thought. Wishing you luck. (We few Western Ifukube fans need to stick together, in my humble.)
NP: THE MUMMY (Goldsmith) (what, I have to play Ifukube ALL THE TIME?)

H ROCCO, Well aside from the GODZILLA series and his other Sci-Fi scores I have yet to find any of his other works, but I'm still trying. The eBay bids get too damn high for me. Unfortunately here in Texas it is hard to find imports although once I found the Futureland GODZILLA 1954-1975 at Tower Records in Dallas, but I have the GNP version.

I guess I'm quite lucky.I buy most of my CD's from 2 different stores, and all the clerks KNOW my taste in music. They even know what I"m talking about if I ask if they have a copy of such and such score.
Same goes for videos. I always get the movies in Widescreen if possible, and I usually have them pre-ordered so that I won't miss out on one.
Well, I guess it's just my geographical location. We Aussies aren't so dumb after all!
