Hello,
The new Flintstones movie is coming out in a few weeks and I wonder if anyone knows anything about the soundtrack for it.
The only good thing that I heard about this movie is that the score is again done by David Newman, something I'm very happy about. I loved the score from the Flintstones, but it suffered from a song soundtrack release. Does anyone know if this movie has songs or just score, or will the movie have a score release?thanks,

Well, anything's possible, but as this looks to be one of the big bombs of 2000, I wouldn't hold your breath for a soundtrack release, at least not a score one. It may show up as a promo/boot, however, so keep watching.

I saw the trailer about two weeks ago and it looked rather impressive to me.
The film is a prequel to the animated series and tells the story of how Fred and Milma (and Barney and Betty) meet and fall in love.Which is a rather sweet and touching story.
In addition to that we have a puppy version of Dino and an appearance by THE GREAT GOZO!!!!!!!
When I interviewed David Newman for SOUNDTRACK MAGAZINE (http://www.soundtrackmag.com/) he spoke rather highly of the film, the score according to him uses 50's/60's rock approach and doesn't use any of the themes from the series, but does feature a rather big production number at the end of the FLINTSTONES theme.
I guess we'll all know on April 28th how good or bad the film will be.

Actually, her name is Wilma, not Milma. Honest mistake. But the film looks like just another big, loud "hit-on-the-head" type of movies. And Sally from 3rd Rock as Wilma? Talk about mis-casting. Drew Carey was supposed to play Fred, but I guess he decided to back out. No one can play him as good as John Goodman did, though.

This is by far the best sequel of all time. Maybe only the upcoming Pokemon 2, Pichachu's Revenge, will beat it out as top film for 2000. Best, John.

No, the all time best sequel will probably be the upcoming Phantom Menace "prequel" RETURN OF THE JEDI CLAMPETT, starring Buddy Ebsen as Obi Wan's grandfather.

No JEC, I thought Buddy was going to be in the upcoming Barnaby Jones, the Movie where he makes a comeback as a very old detective in a wheelchair. Goldsmith will be scoring the film. Should be good. John.
