just caught a piece of this movie on Turner Classic Movies and I really liked the main titles piece. I guess typical masterful Steiner.

just wondered if it was on LP or CD.

NP -- Peter & the Wolf, Prokofiev
-- man this takes me back! badly scratched LP. Still, worth the 50 cents I paid at the Goodwill thrift store.
The LP is signed and dated "Mrs. Smith, Nov 5, 1958. First Grade, Pleasant Valley School"

"Peter and the Wolf," man just MENTIONING that takes me back. I'm assuming this is a full classical album -- or is it that storybook version I heard in nursery school? I'll NEVER forget that, it was absolutely fascinating. I think it was narrated by Orson Welles, though that may be memory editing quite ruthlessly, but it was SOMEONE like that. (Perhaps the poor man's Welles, Paul Frees.) The album was a juxtaposition of the original fairy tale and Prokofiev's music -- I didn't find the record scary, but I particularly adored the Wolf motif. I even made up my own lyric for it: "Pee-ter and the wolf-wolf-WOLF-wolf-WOLF-wolf-WOOOOLF ... " (hey, I was four.)

My Reputation is on the old MSMS series of LPs. A suite from the old acetates is on there. Its the only recording I know of. John.
