Apart from being dantoris' signature for a while, I believe the image is of Stephen Dorff from JOHN CARPENTER'S VAMPIRES.

Never saw Carpenter's Vampires. Is it any good? I thought his remake of Village Of The Damned was dreadful...what happened to the John Carpenter who I loved when he made The Thing and Big Trouble In Little China?

So Howard, it looks like you & I are the message board's Butch & Sundance. "Harrisburg Hairball and The Old Tampa Fart".

Or do you want top billing?

    Hey Timmer!

About John Carpenter...I really loved his movies, right up until Prince Of Darkness (1987). I saw that one in the theatre, and couldn't believe what a mess it was.
That movie represents the LINE that Carpenter has drawn.
Everything before that line was fascinating stuff.
But everything after that line has been pretty poor.

    What happened?

Did Carpenter finally fry his brain cells with drugs?

I LIKED VAMPIRES ... it wasn't AT ALL the movie I would have made (I adored the novel), but I thought it was a bit of a return to form. VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED was dreadful, I hated MEMOIRS OF AN INVISIBLE MAN, but I rather enjoyed the purposeful intransigence of IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS.

I haven't seen a lot of his latter-day pictures, but I kind of think that the problem isn't that he's changed, it's that he HASN'T changed. He's saying the same couple of things over and over again, and I see no development of any kind. He seems almost bored with HIMSELF at times. I'm a bit worried that his next picture (as I remember) looks so much like THE THING. Um, he made that one already, people?

Mr. Rocco hits the spot, my sentiments exactly. The problem with Carpenter is that he has NOT changed. He's still doing the same old same old film trickety scares that he did in HALLOWEEN. Some of his later movies had some interesting ideas, especially IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS, which also had certain interesting single scenes but got bogged down unbelievably toward the end. VAMPIRES was such a case. The opening of the movie when the vampire hunters take out the first nest was very well staged, and certain scenes in the movie worked well (Maximillian Schell as a cardinal was a delight), but overall it was not that much to be excited about. Still not quite back to the form he once had with movies like ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK.

I like it. And better yet, think of us as Wilford Brimley & Richard Farnsworth in the dugout happily discussing memorable moments in "the game."

Well I am glad we could be of help!

As for female Celebs that we are infatuated with. Well, I would assume *all* would be an good rough estimate.

I will say, it is nice to have the female perspective when it comes to discussing film music. So anyway, thanks.

Jennie, WHICH of us ARE photogenic? Look at those mugs!

I've settled on my photo -- not the cigar one I alluded to before, one more terrifying by far. Now I just figure out the scanner.

I hope that this won't embarrass you, Howard, but I love you...and the image (from The Natural, one of my favorites!) above perfectly depicts our (virtual) friendship.

A good friend is a treasure, even if we've never actually met.

Now...on to John Carpenter. I don't entirely agree with the assessment above (that he hasn't changed).
How can the John Carpenter who directed Starman possibly be the same John Carpenter who directed the dreadful Village Of The Damned???

I believe that drugs are involved here somewhere...that is unless other life-altering circumstances are to blame.
    The man HAS changed...

Some years ago (maybe in 1994 or so), I met John Carpenter. He looks somewhat older than he actually is, but he did not seem to be under drugs at that moment.

Rocco - Dantoris' photo is actually Thomas Ian Griffith, from VAMPIRES.

    Stephen Dorff was in BLADE.

AdministratorK disabled that function some time ago. Didn't explain why, that I saw, but I kind of understand. There was a lot of potential for abusing it.
