Somebody posted this topic at the Filmtracks scoreboard and I thought it might be interesting to do this here as well (though I`m sure this has been done many times before)
What I`m most interested in is if there is a cd of these lurking around somewhere and how the music is.
Here`s a few I know and on some cases have:
Mission:Impossible-Alan Silvestri (a great score, better than Elfman`s IMHO)
13th Warrior-Graeme Revell (don`t have this one . Can someone provide any details on the music?)
Stepmom-Patrick Doyle (did he record this score?)
Breakdown-Basil Poledouris (the first one was rejected, far superior to the one in the film)
    Air Force One (Randy Newman)
Gladiator-Jerry Goldsmith (should be receiving this soon)
2 days in the Valley-Jerry Goldsmith (ditto)
What dreams May Come-Ennio Morricone (this as well)
    Last Man Standing-Elmer Bernstein
The list goes on and on, will add more later

A review (and sound clips) of Revell's Eaters of The Dead score is available at Soundtracks: The Epic Sound. There is a link at Filmtracks.

Two Days in The Valley is a pretty dark Goldsmith score but it is rich with great themes. A lot of it has the atmosphere of his film noir scores. The main/love theme in particular is in the same vein as Chinatown, L.A Confidential, and Contract on Cherry Street.

If I remember correctly, isn't John Barry's non-film album entitled The Beyondness of Things actually his rejected score from The Horse Whisperer?

    James,

Interesting for you to mention Beyondness of Things. I am listening to it right now, and this french horn piece sounds like something that would have been written for The Horse Whisperer(but would be done better by T. Newman.) It would make since.

What about the music for "Interview with a Vampire" by George Fenton? Does anybody know anything about that?

Eaters of the Dead by Revell is completley different from Goldsmith's score. It's kind off new age-ish. It would fit to the book, but not to the film that eventually came out.

    Thirteenth Warrior (Goldsmith) ****
Eaters of the Dead (Revell) **1/2

Chris: Don't know if the rejected INTERVIEW was issued, but read elsewhere on the Board that Fenton recycled it into his subsequent score for MARY REILLY.
