    Audacity:

I just (finally) listened to the cassette of Hackers and Switchback that a mutual friend sent me after a seriously long delay. To my EXTREME disappointment, I discovered that Hackers is all techno-cong crap...not Boswell's score...this disappointement might have been alleviated if Intrada had not decided to release Switchback...which makes the score for that on the other side of the tape useless to me now. Needless to say, further trades with this individual won't be happening. If you want, I will be happy to send you the casette. I am gonna hold out for the official Switchback release I think. Let me know what you want. (how is it coming along on the Breakdown score?)

    Thanks.

    NP - Switchback (Poledouris)

Ungrateful? Hardly that. In fact, I am most grateful to have gotten the tape at all after the series of delays. That the tape I got was not the tape I had asked for was the problem...and perhaps due to a misunderstanding or miscommunication, there was NO score at all. The sticking point to this was a simple one...I had agreed to make a trade with Audacity in which the Hackers score I was supposed to be getting was one of the items. After a series of delays and not getting it for a couple months, I did get the tape, in good condition. So, I am not attacking this persons integrity whatsoever. He sent me a tape with what I suppose he thinks it is we traded for (it was actually a trade in which I made a couple extra copies of another score he asked me to burn for him) and, in fact, added the unreleased score to Switchback, which is great! In an unfortunate bout of mistiming, Switchback is now going to be released legitimately...

So, the time it would take me to sit and digitize each track from the casette and burn is a waste now from my point of view.

Let me reiterate this one more time for the intelligence impaired:

I AM NOT DISPAIRAGING THIS PERSON'S INTEGRITY NOR AM I COMMENTING ON HIS TRADING ETHICS.

I am simply saying that I doubt I will trade with him again for several reasons, one of which is a severe shortage of time I have to make cd's anymore (and I know there are a few of you out there STILL waiting for me to complete the deals we have made...I have NOT forgotten and I apologize profusely) and the amount of time it takes to digitize a casette and then burn it. I prefer the straight trade...

    That's all.

I apologize to the person whom I offended if he thought I was flaming him...such was not the case...simply stating facts and, without mentioning the person, making it clear that I am not completely satisfied with how the events turned out (and not just because I didn't get the SCORE for Hackers, but because another trading partner isn't going to get it either, at least from me...and I have to arrange to provide something else for him now...just a LOT more work than it needed to be.).

    Hope this sorts things out.

    Joe

P.S. Yes, the trader and I have been personally emailing one another regarding this issue...but I wanted to make it publicly clear that it was not my intent to make him out to be a fraud or fake. He delivered...just not what I was expecting. And that could very easily be a simple miscommunication or misunderstanding.

NP - my throbbing head and that is all....

    Les Miserables, by Basil Poledouris.

Wow, this is just absolutely beautiful music.
I've got 3 of his scores, and I know I'm gonna be getting more. This guy is tops!

Yesterday, I found out about the many ways to save money when ordering online. So, I quickly compiled my next DVD package as long as the "25$ off" offer at http://www.brandsforless.com is still valid (for everybody interested: It expires today, so hurry).

Thus, if everything works, I'll pay:

    • No shipping charges because of the usual "Brands for Less" offer
    • 25$ less because of the "Showers of Savings" offer
    • Minus 10% thanks to http://www.ebates.com

And in the end, I'm paying about 75$ for 6 DVDs.

So here's what I've ordered (all DVDs):

    • Much Ado About Nothing (Branagh)
    • The Great Train Robbery
    • Fight Club pre-order
    • Henry V (Branagh) pre-order
    • Dead Again pre-order
    • North by Northwest pre-order

I also wanted to pre-order Jaws, but I'm still a bit confused whether to get the DD or the DTS disc.

THe pre-order items are expected to be available in June, July and August, respectively, so I'll be getting the discs during the next months...
