About how much do you spend on soundtracks annually? I would venture to say that I spend a few hundred a year. About any free cash that is not tied up in tutition or housing goes toward my favorite obsession. And you know what, I have absolutely no remorse or regret. How about you guys?

Well, I couldn't even begin to guess how much I spend a year, or how much I have in my collection thus far, but I will say I wish I could get my money back on a couple scores I bought.

This last two months have been very interesting for me. Last month I spent a little of $200 on scores and this month I just spent another $155. But on average, I spent anywhere from $200 to $300 a year on scores, with most of my purchases during the summer, when most of the really good movies come out. Last year I don't remember purchasing any scores between September and November.

I dont' really keep track of what I spend on scores. It sort of gets lumped together with other music/movies that I purchase.

I would say a few hundred dollars a year though.

Hard to say. I've bought a lot this year already. Some of the stuff I've bought are promos, so that's quite a bit there alone.

I've been buying used CDs indiscriminately lately though. Just today I bought Zimmer's "Broken Arrow" and Jerry Goldsmith's "Love Field" for $1.99 each. I've never even HEARD of "Love Field," but if it's JG, I'll buy it. And if it's $1.99, it's too good of a deal to pass up.

I spend so much cash on this stuff that I forgo new clothes and many luxuries. I am constantly broke and I doubt I'll ever be able to retire at the rate I'm going. Please someone get this monkey off my back.....no, no, don't, don't.

Actually I have no idea. However, I usually spend anywhere from $50-$300 an month. So I
would assume probably around $1000-$3000 an year. Sheesh, If I would cut down an bit I could finally get that DVD player I have been wanting.

The main problem I keep facing though is, every time I get my storage for my collection took care of, I always need to find more space. Now that my collection is near 500 CDs, maybe it's time I look into getting an better Storage cabinet? Any suggestions?

    Thanks very much.

    Regards,
    Sean Robert Abbey

sabbey - Perhaps you should try one of those large, backyard storage sheds normally used to store lawn mowers and such. You'll have plenty of time before that fills up.

Don't know the exact numbers myself, but it's way too much. Not that I regret it, far from it. But it's still a good deal of money. Especially now that I have a DVD-ROM drive, having had this thing for 2 or 3 weeks, I alredy spent about 130$ for DVDs. And the difference to CDs is that while I can constantly listen to my CDs, I can't watch DVD movies all day long!

Also, as my collection grows (it must be somewhere between 150 and 200 CDs at the moment), I find it harded and harder to listen to every CD that I want. I often think "today I'll listen to this score", and I don't manage to do so until 2 weeks later.

Nah! It wouldn't work. I'd just have to buy another one next year.

The total value of my collection is currently at about $4300 (350 CD's). I probably use about $1500 on soundtracks a year. And that's quite a mouthful, seeing as I have no income, living off of student loans only. And it shows:

I'm constantly being critiziced for things like lacking the proper new clothes and buying too few beers on saturdays nights. And - now I'm contemplating whether I should buy some new screws for my waggly curtain pole(?). But you know, those screws equal at least a third the prize of a new CD!

I have about 650 CDs, that cost an average of about $12 each, which means my collection is worth about $7,800. I have been collecting for about five years so that's roughly $1,500 per year. I have purchased about 80% of my collection the last two years though so you figure that out.
