Well, I just stink, I only have a pithy two CDs of Morricone:

U-Turn - weirdly affecting, it does grow on you.

Bulworth - A supurb score. The first suite is absolutely great as is the second.

    I only own

In The Line of Fire, which I don't enjoy that much, though it sure does have its moments, and Disclosure, which I quite like although don't care for "Serene Family" at all.

The Legend of 1900 is one I want badly.

If Gaijin 51 chimes in the topic question would be better asked as what Morricone don't you have? He's just one of many collectors I've met over the years that own just about everything. I even knew a guy who bought Morricone but no other film music at all. Just Morricone.

    The Mission
    In the Line of Fire
    Disclosure
    The Untouchables

I love the Mission and the Untouchables...I've also got a few western compilations, but overall my collection sorely misses Mr. Morricone.

Andre...just wanted to add that I received Mission to Mars (DVD), because I felt I had been overly critical of the film and score. I liked both more upon the second viewing, and I actually enjoyed the main theme Morricone composed. I still dislike the organ music used over the micrometeor strike scene. So I'll retract my harsh words about the score, and say that I enjoyed it in stretches.

    Great news Quill!!

Indeed Morricone is the kind of composer that have to grow on you. It took time for me to realize how great he is...

No problem...you had me worried for a minute though Stephen!

That DRG set is great by the way, and the 'expanded' issue of Il Mio Nome Nessuno sounds like a bit of a ripoff.

Im tired of seeing these scores reissued with one new track, usually an alt. main title, but I guess if the youngsters buy them it's ok.

Now if someone would just re-do Maddalena, and then I could have a copy!

    Best,
    Sean

WOW-i am humbled here. I only have a few of Morricone's scores, mostly his Oscar nominated works. But i thank each and everyone of you for your comments. Gives me an inspiration to check some of these scores out! But gotta say guys, "Mission to Mars"?
No one will ever convince me that this is a good score. Now "Days of Heaven", that's a score!

I'm here to second Stephen Lister on A Fistful of Dynamite---I consider this the best of all the Morricone scores and since I also consider Morricone to be one of the best of all film composers, it follows that Fistful (aka Duck You Sucker) is one of the best film scores of all time IMHO. Still, others like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly or The Mission seem to be more popular and Fistful hasn't the wider rep that it should--Ryko didn't even reissue it stateside when they were doing all the other UA titles.

As for myself, I own a great deal of Morricone and it still isn't enough and just barely scratches the surface.

In reply to the André of days past, I thought I should mention that I enjoyed Morricone's work from the first time I heard it.I guess some people just have an inherent understanding of greatness...
