Universal Pictures hired James Horner to do JURASSIC PARK 3, that's what I read at the John Williams.cjb.net site.quote:
...according to a recent report from 'Composers Magazine', the main theme ('Theme from Jurassic Park') will be used in the movie... adapted by James Horner!.

Good news. If this comes about, then I'm glad he got the job. Of course, I would like to see him add a touch of originality to this score....--Jason S.

I, for one, would like to see Sam Neill return as Dr. Grant. He's such a great actor. Nothing against Jeff Goldblum, but I always though Grant was the best character.

What is composer's magazine? Is it available to the public?Dantoris,
I definitely agree with you about Sam Neill. He was so great in the first movie and I was so mad they didn't put him in the second, then again nothing about the second movie was good except Pete Postlewaite.

Heh, wouldn't it be fun to see Sam and Pete locking horns ...Any news as to what the new picture is actually ABOUT? This is not a concept that has enormous stretchable legs ... and this time (perhaps fortunately), there's not even a tissue-paper-thin Michael Crichton novel for them to use as a jumping-off point, either.

Months ago, they said the story would be developed from a third Crichton novel, but I suppose (unfortunately) that fell through, as he is now no longer directly attached to it.Jurassic Park: Embryo or Embryo: Jurassic Park III (I've heard both titles rumored about) has had story ideas ranging from scientists creating more dinosaurs on the mainland (the least interesting idea) to (the most interesting idea) a new ice age hitting the Earth and more dinosaurs running amok.
Whatever the story and whatever the cast, I'll be first in line when this picture opens. Personally, I was hoping Goldsmith would score. And we better see some terradactles (I know I screwed THAT one up) attacking bystanders and airplanes!!

Don't worry about it dantoris. I don't know how to spell... uh... that word either. I do think it starts with a "p" though.I'm reading that James Horner will adapt John Williams' JP theme for this movie. This will be very interesting to watch.

Yes, it should be interesting to hear. Like I said my post awhile back, sequel composers rarely keep the theme/themes used by the original composer, so it will be interesting.

The script is going through it's fifth re-write at this time, just a couple of months before cameras role. Heh, they'll never learn.Dan (UK)

Lethal Weapon 4 started shooting before the script was even finished, and look at how bad (and I mean bad) it turned out.Too bad they didn't use Jeffrey Boam's (R.I.P., Jeffrey) original script. Much much better.

So Horner's signed to do the score? I hope that he can come up with something new and exciting...and not a re-hash of his other stuff!NP

I'm still upset that (among others) the Pterodactyle (or Pterodactylus? At least, that's how it's spelled in "German" Latin
) sequence from the first novel. I found the first one very good (though the book is MUCH better) and the second one quite horrible. Don't know if I'll bother to watch #3.quote:
"Sequel composers rarely keep the theme/themes used by the original composer"Hm, Horner usually "keeps" themes by original composers even for completely different movies; maybe this means that he'll come up with something highly original for a change.

"Lethal Weapon 4 started shooting before the script was even finished, and look at how bad (and I mean bad) it turned out."Casablanca's script was written and constantly changed during filming. I think it was completed only days before the last scenes were shot.

Let me clear that up... "Pterodactylus" is the name of the actual genus, "pterodactyl" is the "non-scientific" name, even though they are practically the same.
