Help! I think I just got stung in a deal! Was Jerry Goldsmith's Twilight Zone promo a CD-R or a regular release?I suspect that I got took, but would appreciate the confirmation.
OOOOH. It makes me angry when I try to replace a CD-R copy with the real thing and then....You get the idea!posted 03-29-2000 04:23 PM PT (US)

To my knowledge, there was NEVER an official CD release of TWILIGHT ZONE -- nor a promo either. WHATEVER you got was a boot of some type, and most likely a CDR'd one, as well. (Aren't all boots by DEFINITION CDRs in one sense or another? Maybe a topic I shouldn't bring up ... but I have some CDRs I'm quite happy and content with ... )Don't shoot the messenger!

I have a CD of "TZ" that I bought several years ago...before CD-Rs were available.
It looks like it could be a CD-R, I can't tell. There's a photo of Rod Serling on the disc. The rear insert with the track listing says:"Promotional Use Only/Not For Sale"
Acme Entertainment.
Mastered from Original Tapes though some anomalies are inherent in the source.
Acme 007I have always thought that "Acme 007" sounded like somebody's idea of a joke...

Thank Guys! It has the back cover indicia that you mentioned but not pitcure of Rod Serling. I guess time to demand a refund or I will have to the "I'm Kinda Bummed" thread and tell my sad tale.

But what precisely is the matter, Ruger? There was no official release; this is as close as you're going to get for the time being. A matter of principle, I suppose? (You're well entitled.)NP: BASIC INSTINCT (original issue -- I remember haunting the stores for what seemed like AGES until it finally appeared -- this was before the days of the Net and the easily accessed lists of release dates. Oh was I dying to have this one! Right before or right after MEDICINE MAN, that was. It doesn't feel like eight years, but then what does eight years feel like? This, I guess. I remember predicting it would go up for the Oscar, and my soundtrack-fan pals insisting no one would remember this February release by nomination time. I should have made a cash bet.)
(Chris, I thought the Acme label only released Warner Bros. cartoon scores ... they tend to be poorly pressed and defective discs, though ... at least they deliver em roadrunner-fast ... )

Any chance of Goldsmith's TZ getting reissued soon? After that collaboration between Warner and Rhino on Superman, TZ would be a great candidate for release. I've only heard the 6 minute concert suite, but that contains easily some of the Maestro's best writing, and I'm desperate for the full score now. How long is it in the movie?

The problem is that I already had CD-R version and I was hoping to replace it with a pressed release. The listing on E-Bay didn't mention it was a CD-R. If I have known I was bidding on CD-R, I wouldn't have bothered.

Mr. Ruger...just out of curiosity, how much did you bid on the TZ CD-R? There might be a few people right here who would buy it from you, seeing as it's a rather rare item.Rocco: Every time I read the "Acme 007" on that insert, I imagine Elmer Fudd dressed as James Bond holding his pistol, and Bugs dressed as a Bond Girl wrapping himself around him.

LOL! The other afternoon a lovely brown bunny was tooling around the yard and I just had to serenade my neighbor with "We're gonna have roast rabbit, We're gonna have roast rabbit, We're gonna have roast--"Sorry. Ain't I a stinker?
All you folks with your dagnabbit CDs, CDRs, CD-Roms and every other combination of CD imaginable don't know the aesthetic beauty of pulling out that good old-fashioned TZ: The Movie vinyl LP and enjoying a positively marvelous recording, possible snaps, crackles, pops and hisses included. Goldie's "Kick the Can" output was a lot better than Spiely's; in fact, it was the best thing in the entire segment.
"Why're you setting around mopin',
Settin' around hopin',
Jus' listen to me,
I'm sure that you will agree,
Age means nuthin' cause its..."(we never did figure out the exact end of that phrase)

I paid $20.50 for it. But I can't sell it. I have rules about CD-R's. No Selling, only Trading! This is a great score, I do hope it gets a full release someday!
(It occurs to me that we are straying dangerously close to needing to move this to the Soundtrack Finder Board!)

Debi,If I recall correctly Mr Rutherford's collection is immense and incredibly stocked with rarities. But I will try.
(I am not worried some one will want this thing, if not I give it to one of my buddies here who likes scores, but not enough to chase them.
