To Shaiman, Parker, and Stone: "Let me give you a name. Leonard Lavensky. Brillaint pyshchiatrist. You'll call, you'll talk, you'll work things out."(Anybody care to guess what movie that's from? Goldsmith did the music).
Seriously, these guys are whacked and do not deserve the fame and fortune they've been receiving. Well, Shamin does have talent. He's written some good scores, but the other two should vanish from the face of the Earth. Maybe they could go the way of Hanson or Debbie (sorry - Debra) Gisbon.

dantoris,The main reason for posting the pic was due to the participation of Mr Shaiman in such a funny stunt.
I do however give the others a thumbs up because each time I lok at this pic it cracks me up. And also on the BBC early morning news, live, when they were asked "why do you think you lost" Trey responded with a "because of that f**er Phil Collins" I could not help but laugh.

Well, good scores he may have written aside, the guy's obviously got some problems if thinks dressing up with brain-dead morons like those two is cool. At least he had the deceny to wear guy clothes. (I started to say normal, but decided to hold off on that word). I don't think anyone since Huggy Bear has worn clothes like that.

Heh ... maybe halfway. You weren't referring to Trey's wearing the Jennifer Lopez dress, were you? (A reference I didn't get until I read about it in the inevitable Fashion Coverage of the Oscars in the papers -- I do NOT understand why people pay so much attention to that stuff.)Otherwise, James ... ? heh ...

Trey parker and Matt Stone are two very talented people. Sure they act different and do stuff that ****es people off. That's them. Only reason people hate them is because thier famous and they are different. I forone thing South Park is a great show. Helps me get away from the other crap that's on tv. There is nothing good on TV anymore cause it's either a bunch of re-runs or shows that are like older shows from years ago just with a new title. And nothing I watch anymore cracks me up as much as South park. I bet if you were the one who created South park and making a few million $ you wouldn't be complaning. but when it's someone else acting goofy and weird and making millions of $ then you have to hate them and thier show. They are hot property right now in Hollywood. I know they are righting at least 3 scripts. One of them being a new Dumb And Dumber sequel or prequel. can't remember which. But they are most likely to be in it.
I forone thought Blame canada was better then that stupid Phil Collins song.
But if you don't like it, hey, that's you. I love South Park along with thier other movies I own like BASEketball,Orgazmo and Cannibal! The Musical. And I know there are millions of people out there who would agree with me.

I'm with you, Sounds (may I call you Sounds? too late, I've done it) -- in every particular. SOUTH PARK never ceases to amaze me. Parker's first movie CANNIBAL! THE MUSICAL is a remarkable piece of work as well. I was less taken with ORGAZMO and BASEKETBALL, but everyone stumbles now and then.I tried that link to your alleged homepage (attached to your profile), and the only place it goes is to XOOM.com's homepage. Or is that the idea?

That way I could sit back everday and watch the program, thinking to myself, "Wow! I can draw cartoon characters that look like they they were drawn on the back of a toilet stall door a Kindergartner." Yeah. Who cares about the true talent behind animated shows like Batman, which completely revoluntionized animated series for the 90s, with its Emmy-winning designs, feature film-quality scripts and music, and voice talent provided by some of the best actors/actresses in Hollywood.

Hopefully (before long), these two will go the way of Hanson and The New Kids On The Block. Popular celebrities who eventually bite the dust when the public realizes just how talentless they are.

dantoris, I actually like you based on what little I know of you -- so I can't quite understand what it is you're so mad and/or offended about. It's just a damn cartoon! If it doesn't suit your own sense of humor, then that's just the way it is, right?Calm down!
Although I'd be curious to see if there are other closet SOUTH PARK haters on the board ... I'm always wondering what people're thinking about ...

I'm not offened by the cartoon - it's to stupid and assinine(sp?) to be offensive. I'm just amazed that soooo many people have been tricked by these two morons into believing they're talented, and that their show is "cool." I've tried watching the show, so I'm not someone who says I hate it and have never seen an episode. I've seen several (for some strange reason), and not once did I crack a smile. I too HATE South Park... I cannot stand it. I also think that Parker and Stone are quite low on the talent department. I have not seen one single iota of anything from them which I have enjoyed. HOWEVER, there are two things they have which I utterly admire them for: (1) Incredible creative courage, and (2) A profound understanding of everything that is wrong with people. The best example of this is how ORGAZMO received an NC-17 rating because of the nature of the "hero" and all the raciness, but the SOUTH PARK movie, which had (just a little) less sex but tons of violence and a lot more religious offensiveness was only R. That's what I think they're trying to do with everything they make... see what they can get away with and then laugh when they get away with something worse. For me, that was the whole point of SOUTH PARK. (A theory which the MPAA confirmed in my opinion by their recent decision about AMERICAN PSYCHO).Dantoris -
You made reference to the animation... I'm sorry, but I have to believe that is style. You said... "Wow! I can draw cartoon characters that look like they they were drawn on the back of a toilet stall door by a Kindergartner." That's Rocky and Bullwinkle, one of the best cartoons ever created.James
NP - The Man in the Iron Mask (****)P.S. Scary thing, I actually recognized the Jennifer Lopez dress and knew what it was. That thought makes me shudder... That's not what I was referring to, though. I'm still afraid to say that.

Well, *I* am a "South Park" fan. I love the TV series, but I unfortunately missed the movie in cinemas. They're still playing it around here, but only the German synhro, which I'm sure is horrible. So I'd rather get the DVD some time. And I'm convinced that they would have deserved the Oscar. Although "Blame Canada" isn't my favourite of the songs (it's still great), I'd probably have chosen "Mountain Town".
AND I CAN'T FORGET THAT HORRIBLE PRESENTATION OF THE SONG AT THE ACADEMY AWARDS!
NP: Angela's Ashes (Williams, nice) - I would have nominated him for "Ep.1", and that one deserves an Oscar, but I'm not THAT fond of "Angela's Ashes" (but "Back To America", which is just playing, is fantastic).

I can't tell you if Parker and Stone are talented or not, but I frequently find myself laughing (or at least smiling) when watching the show - partly because of the satirical references, but also because of the combinations of weird, simple characters (and animation) and over-the-top situations.
Then again, I'm a sucker for "absurd humor", so that's just my taste.

I think some of their humor is brilliant. The episode where they are in the Rain Forest and it is really dark and one of the kids gets scared and says "I think I saw Tony Danza!" How can you not laugh out loud at that kind of meaningless name drop.

I'm ashamed of the Oscars for even nominating such a crappy nonsense movie! It was funny the first 1 1/2 times I saw it. After that it was just stupid! I hate to be the basher here, but does anybody else find it just a tad bit odd that the film was even nominated for anything? I half expected Cartman and Kenny to walk on stage to present their own stupid song, which was ruined royally by Robin Williams. I wonder how much they paid him to sing a racist unsensitive song about Canada?I hereby claim the Oscars worse then the MTV movie awards and refuse to watch it until they bring back all the class that it used to have.

Good grief! Speaking AS a Canadian living in LA, I found the song quite apropo to all the Canada bashing Jack Valenci and the Unions are spitting out to the media here. Ya, like Canadian tax incentives are going to kill Hollywood. Americans are a constant source of amusement to me...they're such hypocrites. Everybody and their uncle ****er can set up a sweatshop in Thailand but, heaven forbid, Canada should proove attractive for filming because of it's low dollar and comprable talent and location resource.Personally, I thought the song was hilarious and the movies vulgarity absolutely uproarious. Not in my lifetime would I have believed someone could derive a subplot from a sexual relationship between Satan and Saddam Hussein and actually make it funny. The film isn't perfect...it does tend to drag in spots...but, overall, it was one the few movies last year I was genuinely entertained by.
