This movie left town before I could see it. It bombed big time in Lawrence. Seeing that a small portion of the film was on the infamous Raid on Lawrence-1863, I thought more people would be interested in it. They weren't. I was looking forward to seeing it, but it lasted one week. How was the score? Thanks, John.

Being a Civil War drama, one would expect a lot of drum and fife as heard in Randy Edelman's music for Gettysburg. None to be found!

Ride with the Devil a relatively quiet, introspective score; solo winds float above a lush bed of string work, dashed with a little banjo here and there. The action music, rhythmically driven by a quiet kettle drum tour de force, is punctuated by bursts of brass. Three traditional tunes are included - standard folk fare performed on fiddle, accordian, mandolin and drum - along with a few of Danna's own folk-inspired melodies.

The music is suprisingly lyrical for a Danna score, and the reason why I'm drawn to it.

I agree with PeterK. It's completely different from Gettysburg or Glory. I would say that the action driven cues are great. They somehow sound kinda like David Arnold. That shouldn't surprise since both composers use the samer orchestrator. I think RWTD is a great and underrated score.

This mp3 used to be The Epic Sound board, but it is gone now. I like it though.

Ride With The Devil is my favorite score of last year. Can't wait for the video release of the film; it never came to a theater here in Portland, OR. (video release = July)
