Against my better judgement, but due in part to encouragement from such individuals as Board Mommy Joan, here's my own personal, absurdly idiosyncratic Nominations for the Year's Best.

I agree with Tim. "Cool." Obviously, the Academy forgot to consult you in the music area. Your choices are far from theirs so probably better. Seeing a list like this reminds me that I haven't seen some quality movies this year like Dogma, Radio Hour, Bringing Out the Dead, and Fight Club.

Notice H Rocco mentions the movie GO. That was quite a surprise for me. If you like movies that have several stories that eventually tie together (Two Days in the Valley, Pulp Fiction, Magnolia), you may find this quite an undiscovered treat.

"We've come a long way baby," when one compares South Park, Uncut to the Oscar laden Sound of Music.

I didn't hear anything about Andrew Kevin Walker working on the Fight Club script, where did you get that? I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was in on it.

In at least one recent interview, Edward Norton refers to Walker's input: Walker was the writer that sat in on the rehearsals, and did the rewrites. Not enough to please the WGA as far as credit, I guess. Walker also contributed to Fincher's THE GAME.

Rocco--you definately show that the Academy picked the wrong song from the South Park movie to nominate when there were 3 better to choose from!

NP: Red Sun (Maurice Jar, Jeer, something like that)

*scratches head* Is it me or did people and the academy simply forget Eyes Wide Shut was ever made?

Guess I may as well post my picks now as ever:

    Special Visual Effects: THE MATRIX

Film Editing: Richard Francis Bruce, THE GREEN MILE

Production Design: Rick Heinrichs (not Henrichs as above, sorry), SLEEPY HOLLOW. The Oscars include Set Decorators in their Design awards, so I should also cite Peter Young.

Original Song: "Uncle F*cka" (Trey Parker), SOUTH PARK [was there ever any doubt?]

Original Score: Trey Parker, Marc Shaiman, SOUTH PARK

Cinematography: Emmanuel Lubezki, Conrad L. Hall (New York unit), Peter Hannan (second unit, UK), SLEEPY HOLLOW

Supporting Actress: Toni Collette, THE SIXTH SENSE

    Supporting Actor: Jason Robards, MAGNOLIA

Actress: Hilary Swank, BOYS DON'T CRY

Actor: Haley Joel Osment, THE SIXTH SENSE

Adapted Screenplay: Jim Uhls, Andrew Kevin Walker, FIGHT CLUB

Original Screenplay: F. Night Shyamalan, THE SIXTH SENSE

Director: F. Night Shyamalan, THE SIXTH SENSE

    Picture: THE SIXTH SENSE

    Now ya know.

NP: "Der Rosenkavelier" (one of the Strausses) (my mom has a TV version of it on)
