Sitting here listening to quite possibly John Barry's best Bond score (second only to The Living Daylights), and knowing that EMI is supposed to be releasing a whole bunch of remastered Bond scores soon, I can't help but wonder: is OHMSS one of them? With previously unreleased tracks and everything, like TLD?If so, I'm gonna have to buy one.

That would be nice if they left that song off, hu? I think if Sean Connery had had the patient to stay for one more movie, OHMSS would have been his best Bond film. Oh, well. It's still a great movie (with a great score). Also, about the main title music- I read somewhere that it originally had lyrics, but that they were (wisely) left out. True? Does anybody know what the lyrics were?

EMI are releasing OHMSS, But whether they'll contain extra music???
I can assure EMI that I won't be buying any of em' if the same as the old releases! For me Connery was and is the best Bond, But having said that OHMSS is my favorite Bond movie and Bond score, theirs SO much good stuff left off the original soundtrack!

dex:Are you talking about "We have all the time in the world?" It's a lovely song, with great lyrics. I'm more of an instrumental person, but this song and "Can you read my mind" burst the barrier.
If you want the lyrics, let me know and I'll transcribe them over the weekend.

Timmer - Yes, I am female.Marc - No, I was talking about the song dantoris mentioned, "Do You Know How Christmas Trees Are Grown?" It's such an annoying song on the CD. I love "We Have All the Time In the World," and the instrumental version. It's a beautiful song.

Dex - Yes, the main title did have lyrics at one point. Here's an excerpt from the booklet to The Best of James Bond 3oth Anniversary Collection:" . . . an instrumental title piece that is one of the most exciting action accompaniments in the series. (Leslie Bricusse had written lyrics for the title that were never used.)"
I don't know where you read it, but I first saw that in this very booklet when I bought the CD back in 1995.
If anybody knows what the lyrics were, please post them here.

Until I get home tonight, you'll have to do with this excerpt."Do you know how Christmas trees are grown?
"They need sunshine (then a progressively longer list of needs until the song ends, much like "Twelve Days of Christmas")
"But most of all, they need love."
Lot's of other solo verses in there, but that's the chorus part. Like I said, I'll post the whole thing tonight.
(Well that's something to look forward to, listening to "Do you know how Christmas trees are grown" over and over for about an hour.)

No, Marc I'm talking about the actual score that plays over the opening credits, the one composed by John Barry. Not the "Christmas Trees" song. I said I read somewhere (and dantoris just confirmed this above) that Barry's opening title music had lyrics and was supposed to be a song, but the lyrics were never used. I was hoping someone could write the lyrics here if they knew them.

I became enchanted with the instrumental version of "We Have All the Time in the World" from Barry's "Moviola" the first time I ever heard it, and remain so.

You may indeed be thinking of "Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang." That's on the same 30th anniversary CD I have. I've never heard the version of the OHMSS opening title with the lyrics, though the main theme sound exactly like how one would sing On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Try it out loud . . . if you're alone.NP: Chris Gaines: Greatest Hits - "That's The Way I Remember It" ****/***** (Yeah, yeah, it's Garth Brooks; who cares? Sue me!)

How is it that this film can have both one of the best songs in the Bond series AND one of the worst?
