The Chicago Film Critics Awards were announced tonight, and I thought I'd share this with you...The Best Original Score award went to none other than South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut by Marc Shaiman!!
The contenders:
The Cider House Rules (Rachel Portman)
Eyes Wide Shut (Jocelyn Pook)
The Red Violin (John Corigliano)
Run Lola Run (Tom Tykwer, Johnny Klimek, & Rheinhold Heil)Also, an interesting comment made by awards host Tom Dreesen after the ceremony:
quote:
Yeah, that about sums it up...
Critics are people who, after the battle has been fought, walk out onto the field and shoot the wounded.James

AWRIGHT!!!!!!!!But shouldn't they also have mentioned Trey Parker? Or did they? SOUTH PARK was as much, if not more, Parker's work. Nothing at all against Shaiman, but even he said he was Igor to Parker's Dr. Frankenstein.
NP: CHERRY 2000 (last time I'll be hearing THIS one for a while ... )

Tell me something about the SOUTH PARK SCORE (not the otherwise cool SONGS) and the proportion of it available on the album. If the score is not properly represented on album, then justify how SONGS deserve the price for best ORIGINAL UNDERSCORE. Thank you.

Rocco -Now that you mention it, they did include Trey Parker. That was my mistake...
