Does anyone remember a short lived cartoon in the mid '80s based on the Rambo:First Blood films?I was watching tv late last night, and came across the end credits of the show and heard Goldsmith's Rambo theme playing.I wondered who did the music, when none other than Jerry Goldsmith was credited with the music.Does anyone know if Goldsmith actually wrote music for the animated series or someone just adapted his theme and was not credited on the show. Because the music seemed to be a cheap synth version of Goldsmith's music.

From what I think, the music from the cartoon may be taken from the Rambo scores. The reason being is that the same music is played over and over again every episode. Furhtermore I don't think Goldsmith will score for every single episode.

    That's just my opinion.

OH MY GOD!!!! I've finally met someone who remembers this cartoon. I used to watch it all the time, but I couldn't find a single person who remembered it.

The main-and-end-title versions, and commercial break versions, of the theme, were arranged by Shuki Levy of HE-MAN and SHE-RA fame. Besides composing, he also produces his shows (e.g. POWER RANGERS, repackaged versions of a much crazier Japanese series of shows called "sentai.")

The rest of the music was tracked directly from the first two RAMBO pictures' soundtracks. In fact, the music was often absolutely wall-to-wall and, I thought, poorly tracked. Goldsmith had nothing to do with it.

RAMBO creator David Morrell observed of the RAMBO cartoon, "The only good thing about it was the Jerry Goldsmith music."

I also saw most of these: Rambo, Spirit of Freedom cartoons in 1986. We were living in St. Louis at the time and my youngest son would tape them(came on while I was at work). He wanted me to see these when I got home. I watched them and heard all the same music in Rambo II over and over, basically that's the music. John.

I HATE the Rambo theme just because of that stupid show. Every time he went into battle he had to armor up and put on that retarted head band, and they played Goldsmith's cue. It was way to over used in that show. Kind of killed it for me. I wonder if Goldsmith cringes now everytime he hears it for that reason

I also hate the show because, like all kids cartoons based on R rated movies, they cut out all the fun. Mainly the blood and gore, and people actualy dying. I remember one episode he fired a rocket into a guard tower, and just before the rocket hit all the solders jumped out. Grrrrrrrr I suppose its kinda bad to raise kids with voilence, but if they've seen the movie...

sabbey - You live in the Castro Valley? What channel is it showing on? I live out near Modesto, so perhaps I may get it. In fact, I think I saw it listed in the TV Guide awhile back, but don't remember what channel.

BTW, it's part of the BKN cartoon block. Hopefully your UPN channel shows that as well.
