I think you're the right person I wanna leave this message for.

I've completed my compilation that I first mentioned over at FSM. (The one I was asking around about to see if somebody could do it for me, since I didn't have a CDR-burner at the time?) If you're still interested in hearing how it turned out, I'll post the details.

No, Jeron, it's not the Galaxy Quest one. I just finished writing the synopsis for it last week, so I'll soon be working on it. I'll add a brand new post when it's finished.

Marcelo - Long time no see. I was afraid to post at FSM, for fear of it disappearing without you seeing it, but I was glad to see that you're now here so I can tell you about it.

It took me a couple times before I finally got it right. My first time was virtually a disaster, but hey - that's what experimenting's for, right? Anyway, I also couldn't decided on which cues to use, but I ultimately did, and - on my fifth attempt - finally got it right.

I suppose you may feel I tricked you, as the final recording was not made from a cassette tape, as I had mentioned I wanted it done over on FSM. When I got a CDR-burner for Christmas, I decided to just record the music right from the videos/DVDs, which many other people have obviously done.

The entire CD runs 60 minutes and 52 seconds, and contains the following:

Music From The Films Of MICHAEL DUDIKOFF

    1. Cobra - Theme: Main Title (1:09)
    2. Strategic Command - End Credits (4:09)
    3. Bounty Hunters - End Credits (3:07)
    4. Black Thunder - The Nova: Main Title (2:45)
    5. Black Thunder - End Credits (4:07)
    6. Platoon Leader - "Welcome Back"/End Credits (3:41)
    7. The Shooter - End Credits (4:06)
    8. Crash Dive - End Cast/End Credits (5:26)
    9. Fugitive Mind - Main Title/The Lab (4:16)
    10. Freedom Strike - End Credits (4:06)
    11. Moving Target - End Credits (3:30)
    12. American Ninja - The Convoy: Main Title (2:11)
    13. American Ninja 2: The Confrontation - Motorcycles - Main Title (1:56)
    14. Avenging Force - The Swamp: Main Title (2:21)
    15. Midnight Ride - Main Title (0:53)
    16. Midnight Ride - Borrowing A Car (1:41)
    17. Midnight Ride - Elevator Attack/End Credits (2:58)
    18. Chain of Command - The Oil Field: Main Title (2:20)
    19. River of Death - The Amazon: Main Title (2:20)

That was it for the main part of the music. But I didn't want to waste the rest of the disc, so I added a couple of pieces that were actually in the movies, as opposed to the opening/closing credit suites.

    20. Counter Measures - Moscow: Seven Years Later (1:05)
    21. Fugitive Mind - Robert Escapes (0:24)
    22. Midnight Ride - Justin's First Victim (0:21)

I closed out the movie music section with a bang . . .

    23. Cobra - Theme: End Title (1:08)

    . . . then closed the entire album with . . .

    24. Cannon Pictures logo (0:21)

I also made a very nice little case for the CD. The track titles are fully listed on the back, and I even made a little booklet for the case. The front has full-color artwork of three pictures: 1 film still and 2 promo shots. The inside first page contains a fairly complete biography, and the second is a list of his films (starring roles only) and two more promo pictures. The back of the booklet again lists the track titles, as well as 4 still pictures.

Then comes the part I really like. The part of the case the CD rests in is clear, so behind it I place a promotional picture taken on the set of American Ninja.

The thing I like about listening to this (other than being a huge Dudikoff fan) is that the music is extremely impressive for low-budget movies. You usually don't get very good - or even just good - scores with direct-to-video movies, but some of the tracks here I'd put in the same field as the best of Goldsmith and Williams.

All-in-all, it's a pretty impressive little piece of work (according to my friends) for something that will never be seen in a music store.

Sorry for making you wait so long to hear the outcome, but I was pretty busy with college at the time I was experimenting, so I couldn't work on the CD for days at a time. I also hope you're not disappointed learning the final CD was recorded directly from the videos/DVDs instead of the cassette tape.

Anyway, that's all I can think of to tell you about it.

I have no idea who wrote it, or even if it was more than one composer, as I've heard a couple different variations. The one I recorded was from "Midnight Ride" (and possibly others). I used it simply because it was the coolest-sounding one.

By the way: anybody know if Cannon is still making movies? I don't think I've seen any fairly recent ones.

Hey dantoris,I'm not disapointed at all that you did the job from the DVD.
Definetly is far superior quality of sound!
Also It's a "Unique" CD that You have!
And talking about low budjet pictures,I did
a score recently for an Argentinian one.
I'll glad to mail the promo CD to You.
It's about 60 minutes of music, underscores and source music.
The story is about a drama of a girl from the subs that try to get away from her past.
A psychological story in the Buenos Aires
tango suburbs that shows the differences of social classes and their frustrations in
    the Buenos Aires society.
Let me know and I'll mail it to You.
    Thanks.

And gladd You're in the forum again
in the discussion of the great hollywood masters.

    Cheers

    dantoris,

Last I looked, Cannon had sold its trademark to another company; a couple of subsequent "Cannon" movies came out; this was all years ago. Beyond that, I don't know.
