I just read that David Arnold did compose and record music for THE PATRIOT. Problem was, it got rejected. That's where John Williams enters. So, Arnold's music exists!!! I hope it gets released.

David did indeed write music for the Patriot, a song and 2 cues, but I doubt very much that they will be releasedPliskinn

According to FSM, David Arnold composed a complete score. I don't know their source, but I for one, would like to know if it's just a couple cues, or a complete score.

FSM report according to all sources is just wrong (no big surprise), Arnold wrote a theme demo (that the producer and Director liked) and that's it, nothing more. The choice of Williams seems to has to do with Studio Politics more then anything else.
But, at the end of the day, it's not a bad choice either
There are alot worse things that can happen then losing a scoring Job to Mr. Williams.

Why did you not say that you were helping Arnold? Why now did you just say this?If you work with the composeres that does give you "bragging rights"

No one believes you because they are all self righteous know-it-alls who believe everything they hear....even when those directly involved refute their testimony (sorry...work in a law school). Having been in your shoes before Pliskinn (quite comfortable by the way), I know exactly how you feel.

A couple of points:(1.) What is your name? It seems to not be in any of your messages.
Unsigned messages aren't very credible as a rule.
(2.) To Josh, some folks like to check there facts before posting.
Wouldn't you agree.

Ah, who gives a ****? Why are we still arguing about this?!? John Williams will give it a better score, anyway. Here's David Arnold's score (sorry to all of the David Arnold fans; I am one who can see through the mess):
1. The theme from ID4 (more fife and drum oriented, though; two notes changed at the end)
2. The "Thunderball" reference used in StarGate, ID4, and The World Is Not Enough.
3. Various John Williams Score-Pillaging (Saving Private Ryan chief among them)
4. Anachronistic Electronics
5. End Title song, performed by Eric Serra
Calm down, people! The movie's going to be terrible, so all we can hope for is the Non-Spielberg/New Lucas Williams to score the film, and not the Williams who recycles old scores into new ones (here we go). I'm thinking the Seven Years In Tibet/Rosewood/Angela's Ashes Williams and not the Lost World/Amistad/Saving Private Ryan/Phantom Menace Williams. If we want to hear something original, we'll all be wanting the former.Shaun

Hey, I believed you. What no one has replied to MY satisfaction is: WHY was Arnold replaced? Was the stuff not considered "good enough"? Studio politics might enter into the selection of Williams, but hey, Arnold doesn't have such a terrible track record lately. If the evil twins Roland and Dean were able to demand Arnold on such a vast pair of pictures as INDEPENDENCE DAY and GODZILLA, I'm sure they could have done so here. WHY DIDN'T THEY?
May I ask roughly how long these cues were? What kind of song did Arnold write, and was he the lyricist? Who performed it? I'm sorry if these questions were answered elsewhere, but I didn't spot where they'd be. (I'd not be surprised if these bits DID appear on a bootleg eventually ... sooner or later, I think EVERYTHING will be bootlegged, either that or the Musicians Unions will have to bend their rules and we'll get it all LEGITIMATELY, but the way things are going, we ARE GOING TO GET EVERYTHING SOONER THAN LATER, it seems to me.)

I'm always amazed at how some of the more immature folks who post hear will pass judgement on a film BEFORE THEY HAVE SEEN IT.As to why Mr. Arnold isn't scoring the film, I'd suggest that you read the piece at filmforce.com, it seems to address the issue.
What I've been able to put together is that it had NOTHING to do with Mr. Arnold or his demo's. As the gentleman who posted earlier stated, Arnold recorded two Themes and a Song for the film (with Lyrics by Don Black).
According to all sources The producers liked them.
This was a case of studio poltics and the fact that John Williams became available at the exact right moment. (He is after all a signed SONY CLASSICAL artist).
If you haven't read the filmforce piece here is the URL.
http://filmforce.ign.com/news/324.htmlI think you'll find it interesting.
