This one is similar, but not exactly the same as an earlier post. The question is, what cues would you like to be played at your funeral? I don't see funerals as sad things. They should be the celebration of someone's life. That said, this is what exemplifies my 20 years of life thus far:

    - Backdraft's "Show Me Your Firetruck"
    - Armageddon's "Launch"
    - Face/Off's "Ready For the big Ride, Bubba"
    - Broken Arrow's "Broken Arrow"

All these scores contain moments of tenderness plus the action-packed life I have led thus far.

That funeral scene in Backdraft gets me every time, man. I'm almost weeping right now. Anyway, I'd like "The Funeral" from The Mephisto Waltz to be played, and have some kind of rig that makes the walls "drip" blood. That would be one for the books!

I hope no one here is making plans for their funeral!? There will be tough times for movie music fans, but when all is said and done, there are many MANY years ahead of us to enjoy the old and new. Can't you just wait for the day when future teenagers (who aren't even born yet) barge in here and ask "Who's Danny Elfman?"

"Who's Danny Elfman" -- now THAT's something to look forward to!

Who cares what they play at your funeral? It's not like you can make them do exactly what you want. That's why it's called death.

Awright, probably "Masters of the Earth and Air" (Akira Ifukube, finale, RODAN).

Ack, good lord, what an odd question, but more odd is that I have had this thought before. I'm still unsure, but frankly it's not something I want to work out right now.

I've composed an original piece of music for string quartet I want played at my funeral, partly because I will never let anyone hear it while I'm alive.

    How morbid can you get?

I want Mozart's Requiem played at mine. Especially the Kyrie and Lacrimosa.

I intend to get burried with style in a nice expensive Tomb.

After reading and replying the thread about suicide and death I thought about starting a thread like this one. Well, it seems I'm to late. Anyway, at my funeral I'd like to be played:

    Yoda's Death
    Theme from Crimson Tide
    Love Theme from Braveheart
    Birth from Free Willy 3

np: Excalibur (Trevor Jones and Richard Wagner) *****/*****

It seems that a lot of people plan to have quite elaborate send-offs (and noisy ones too), I hope the families can afford it!

I often actually think of music I'd love at my wedding or even to play my future children to sleep with. Much happier thoughts...

I know the original post said "cues," but I want to have the Cambridge Singers come over and perform John Rutter's "Requiem."

Actually, I think "Truman Sleeps" from "The Truman Show" would be quite nice.

I think the last movement from Akira Ifukube's BUDDHA might do nicely, but why put people through such a long piece ... the end title of ESCAPE FROM THE PLANET OF THE APES would do just as well.

The only scene I liked in MAN IN THE MOON recreates the actual moment at Andy Kaufman's funeral where they play an old tape of him exhorting the audience to sing along with "Friendly World" -- that got to me, even though the rest of the picture left me cold.

    James,
About your choice...why won't you let anyone hear your piece while you're alive? Is there a specific reason or do you just want to keep it hidden forever?

    INTERESTING.

I haven't made a list out yet, or anything. I do not have nearly the musical depth/breadth that most of you folks do, and really have thought of this more in terms of Pop/Rock tunes (gasp!).

    Strong contenders?

    CLASSICAL GAS
    HEY JUDE
    SPIRIT IN THE SKY
WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD (from Bond, OHMSS)

I live in the real world, so I know that it comes for all of us. I have had a bellyfull of UNTIMELY or unkind death, though; so I hope that all of you lives the hell out of every day. I love you guys & want nothing more than for your lives to have really mattered & to be as full of joy as can possibly be described. I'm doing what I can to that end, myself. Take care, everyone.

Besides three or four non-film Christian songs(From a Distance, etc), I would like that great cue for Custer in Son of Morning Star and the final piece off the Man of 1000 Faces. Great stuff. Very moving. Best, John.

    Jennie,

Well... I'll explain only because it's you, Jennie. I don't want anyone to hear it while I'm alive and around to hear it. Meaning if someone wants to hear it while I'm not around, that's fine.

It's something I can't really explain, but I have this severe phobia of listening to my own music. I might compose some Barry-caliber beauty and it would still send ghastly shivers down my spine. I have no idea why this happens, but even when I think it's good, listening to my own music scares me beyond belief.

I guess I'm not going to be a film composer.
