I just heard that Tim Burton is in final negotiations to direct a remake of the classic film "Planet of the Apes".What i'm wondering is if this film is made by Tim Burton or another director, will Jerry Goldsmith be the choice composer for the job.I would hope so,because I would love to see him expand on his original score.I mean it was "Planet" that really showed off Goldsmith's talent for experimenting with different styles in film music. If he were to score it,I think it would be a great chance for Goldsmith to get back to really experimenting with music, something he hasn't done in quite a long time.
Now what do you guys think?Do you think Goldsmith would be the best composer for the job,or you think it would be wiser to go with a different composer?[This message has been edited by Matthew (edited 22 February 2000).]

As long as it ain't David Arnold, I don't really care who composes it, though I, too, would be interested in hearing Goldsmith return to one of his best works. I have a feeling, though, that someone else will score it. Perhaps Elfman, seeing as how Burton is probably going to end up directing it.NP: SUDDEN DEATH ****/*****

I believe the project is thoroughly cursed, so it doesn't matter. Check out Terry Hayes' spectacular script for the Oliver Stone/Don Murphy/Jane Hamsher era. RETURN OF THE APES would have rocked, cuz "Hell is ruled by Apes!".Burton would be fun. Elfman would have to get serious again.

Hmm... last I heard it was another sequel, not a remake. Then again, last I heard James Cameron was doing it, so what do I know?
If it is a remake, it upsets me and I don't want Burton, Elfman, or Goldsmith in on such a doomed project.
