Well, here are the nominees for that other Award, The RAZZIE. The annual celebration of the worst in film. As you can see SW1: The Phantom Menace leads the nominations. Let's think back to last summer now. Was is a winner in your book or a Razzie? Cast your vote here.

For the record... while it wasn't quite the homecoming I was hoping for I wouldn't call it a Razzie. The worst movies I saw last year are a toss-up between Entrapment and Wild, Wild West.

Obvious that you hate Phantom Menace, and I love it, but Cat Zeta Jones not a beauty?

    Me stay with what "rock?"

I don't mean to offend anyone by saying Zeta-Jones is not a beauty, but I like women who have figures and are easy on the eyes.

Thank you, Tom. I'm not saying everybody should agree with my opinions. Can you imagine how boring a world this would be if EVERYBODY had the exact same opinions?

DjC - Sorry about bashing CASINO, but I thought it was just a total load of crap and a pathetic excuse for a movie. I mean, how many times can we see DeNiro play the exact same damn character over and over and over and over, see someone keep beat up with a bat or pipe or whatever it was, and see someone's head in a vise (unless it's a Stooge)? Nice to see Joe Bob Briggs in another feature film, though.

robin4 - She's just got this face that makes me cringe whenever I see it, especially when she smiles. YIKES!! But, on the bright side, I didn't always find her unattractive. When I first saw THE PHANTOM, I thought she was absolutely beautiful, but now that she's a little older, I cringe everytime I see her.

dantoris, forgive me for reopening an old wound and throwing an open salt shaker into it, but Catherine Zeta-Jones is talented and gorgeous. But you say she's not.

To this I reply bite your tongue...right off!

She was just dealt a lousy hand last year in terms of movies and relationships...but that's another story.

I agree with Dave and Will that this thread is going WAY off-topic. The last thing I'd want is this thread to turn into "10 Women You'd Want to Be Stranded on an Island With".

In addition to what I said earlier, what do you mean a little older? She's only 30!!

And you should really lay off of poor Denise Richards. It's not like she killed the Bond franchise...did she?

I'm hoping this is my last reply to the topic, as I, too, would like to get back to movie music.

SBD - TALENTED!! Have you seen THE HAUNTING and ENTRAPMENT? Enough said. And I have nothing against Denise Richards. I just think she's a terrible actress, but that doesn't mean I don't like her. Or, should say, that doesn't mean I don't like LOOKING at her.

Peter M - Yes, I have seen THE PROFESSIONAL (aka LEON), and I absolutely love it. I simply mentioned her because, unfortunately, the movie she'll now always be remembered for is THE PHANTOM MENACE, and she was absolutely terrible in it. Well, that and the fact that she's got a rather good-sized ego.

Casino was Scorsese's Kubrick movie. Follows the scrutinising detached 2001 trajectory, even references it with the Strauss piece for De Niro's talk show stint. Even has the getting-clubbed-to-death-by-apes scene. A damn good comedic mob flic. But I only saw it once.

Amistad was one of the great films of the decade. The most exact and deeply committed refutation of D.W. Griffith's Birth of a Nation that there is. I can understand not liking something if it doesn't match up with personal interests, but sometimes claiming a complex piece of work is just unworthy is like claiming Bruce Lee couldn't whup ass.
