Ok, let me add some more of my favorites. E.T. was my very first score. I was 5 years old in '82 when I got the picture disk LP of the soundtrack for Christmas. I love the music in Jurassic Park when they first see the dinosaurs. In fact, I *did* have tears in my eyes--partly because of the wonderful music and also because the dinosaurs were so beautiful and real thanks to the ground-breaking CGI. Another score that's special to me is The Man from Snowy River, another of my first soundtracks--very beautiful and powerful.
I also have to add my Babylon 5 favorites which are very powerful, but unfortunately, anyone who is not into the series (my favorite of all time) will never experience the emotion. All of these cd titles have some amazing cues: Babylon 5: In the Beginning, Endgame, Sleeping in Light, Severed Dreams, Interludes and Examinations, B5: Volume 2, and the list goes on. I have 20 out of nearly 30 B5 episode, best-of suites, and tv movie cd releases. Just talking about them makes me want to listen to them now! Gotta go get one...

Soon to be NP: B5: Endgame "Taking Back Earth" 5/5

I just re-discovered Shindler's List and found this to be extremely moving and beautiful. Some of the best ever written (of course, it's by the meastro, John Williams!)

    N.P. Bram Stoker's Dracula <4.5/5>

I'll have to add another. A while back Jeron sent me a mix mp3 he made from Snow Falling on Cedars by James Newton Howard. The choral part is SO amazing! POWERFUL! I've listened to his 9 minute mp3 about 10 times today! Thanks Jeron!! Please recommend more choral cues like this!!

NP: Jeron's Snow Falling on Cedars mp3 mix, 10 out of 5 stars!

another good choral cue is from his Flatliners; the Recemption cue is very powerful.

and let's not forget Chris Young's MURDER IN THE FIRST.

Among many choices in film music history, without doubt one of the most moving cues is "The Death of Akhnaton" from "The Egyptian".

Then there's "The Dearness of You, Peter" from "The Diary of Anne Frank".

The first time I listened to Hymn of the Fallen from Williams' Saving Private Ryan I had tears in my eyes and I hadn't even seen the movie yet.

The most moving and powerful musical experience I had...
Several months ago I taped a concert with works by Mozart, Beethoven and Williams. It was the first time I saw a Williams work being performed live. They started with "Star Wars" and then played excerpts from "Schindler's List", "Amistad" and I think one more score which I can't remember right now. What can I say... I cried during the whole thing! I hope I get the chance to go to a Williams concert one day.

NP: Judge Dredd (Silvestri, ****/***** - rating improved! )
