Can someone fill me in on this one. There is a release on Alien Records--a boot, I believe. Is this the only release? Or is it a CDR of a legitimate release?

The Alien Records release is a boot. A decent one -- I have a copy, it sounds fine. Some versions include additional music from Silvestri's BLOWN AWAY. (The cover of my CDR says it includes that, but the guy who MADE the CDR didn't bother to include it, which vexes me no end.)

    "Some versions"

That was my question. Are there different versions of this CD? And if so, are they all boots?

All versions of the first PREDATOR are boots.

I can only speak for the version I have, which is about 70 minutes long, and which I am told is complete. That is the Alien Records version you asked about.

If you love that score, then you probably won't get a better shot at a better album of it. Enjoy!

Yes, there is more than one version of PREDATOR. I think there are two. Both by 'Alien Records'. The Predator music on both discs is the same. Only the last cue is different. On one disc it's Blown Away on the other it's Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot. Artwork is different too.

Alien Records is from the same guys that did:
    - Zimmer stuff on First Born Records
    - First Knight expanded
    - Fly Away Home
    - King Kong Lives
    - Greystoke
    - many many ore

Screen Archives had one on their Specials List last month, for $100.00, if that tells you anything.

I also have the Alien Records release. An original. IT IS the complete score. The sound quality is very good. It runs about 70 min., and the Blown Away cue is about 8-9 min. At the time I bought it, (the most I've ever paid for a disc), it was $50.00. I've been lucky enough to get releases less than that.

File this under "I waited too long." Same with about a handful of other CDs I hedged on buying until they were out of print and out of stock. Among them:

    HORSE SOLDIERS/DUEL AT DIABLO
    JOHN PAUL JONES/LAST COMMAND
    LAST VALLEY

I also really like this score and a year and a half ago I saw it for sale on supercollector.com and it was only $30! The reason I didn't get it was because for some strange reason I thought it was too expensive. Now I am kicking myself for not getting it. If I could find it now for a reasonable price, I would get it.

I was able to pick up the Predator score off of ebay. I thought that I had paid alot for it until I saw that screen archives has it for $150!!! Now I know I got it at a deal for $96. I know that is still alot to pay for a cd and most of my friends don't understand why I did it, but this is another one of my all time favorite scores.

I also picked up the scores to Ghostbusters, Godzilla, and the complete Aliens off of ebay. Ghostbusters and Godzilla are both offered at screenarchives now and the complete Aliens was offered but it is not listed anymore. I saved money on the Ghostbusters score but then used it on the Godzilla score, so it equalled out. And I saved about $54 on the Predator score. I am not going to talk about the Aliens cd because I could've gotten it for a lot less from screen archives, but since it is not available anymore, maybe it is for the best. Oh well, we live and learn, then we die.
