First, sorry for anybody who isn't interested in this at all. Anyway, the FSM message board is finally in coma (BTW, great Goldsmith score), so I'll stay here a bit until it opens again. Actually, this is really a useless message... Well, hi to everybody.

Oh, and before I forget: I'm from Austria (NO, I surely didn't vote for Haider!), which means that although you're used to "Marian" being a female name, I'm male.

    Nice board you've got here!

Well, I certainly am glad I didn't make any gender references. I've been known to make that mistake in the past.......... and boy did I feel like a goof ball.

    Once again, welcome aboard.

As many of you use to say here, "Coma" rocks!! Even the dico version from love theme is good. I think is impossible to any Goldsmith cue sounds bad.

    And welcome Marian!!

I was especially impressed by the way "Coma" was spotted - no score in the first half of the movie, and then a fine Goldsmith score (which I unfortunately don't have on CD).

Did anybody of you change the title of this topic? Is this possible at all? When I created this thread, I called it "FSM Board in Coma". Back at the FSM board, not even the author could rename his/her threads. But then, the FSM board also suffered from heavy Y2K problems...

Hello again , Marian. One of my post vanished days ago, but is really nothing near the FSM chaos.

Unfurnately, "Coma" is out o print and hard to find. Did you like the movie too? I still impressed.

Ah, Rogerio! Didn't realize it's you.
I found the movie great! To read that the score is out of print doesn't surprise me (and I probably already knew it), but my favourite unavailable Goldsmith score is still "The First Great Train Robbery". Actually, my favourite unavailable score period. Somebody at the FSM board said something of a possible re-release some weeks ago. Has anybody heard of this?

    Hi!!
I didn't know that Great train Robbery is out of print. Too bad. My copy is from Czechoslovakia,on MEMOIR records(what da hell is this?) and came along with Wild Rovers, with great themes and Goldsmith's daughter singing beautifully.

But nothing better than the original Great Train art cover released!!!

Well, that great icon of American manhood and forever being the yardstick against which masculinity is measured, JOHN WAYNE (see even his name is in all caps), was originally Marion Michael Morrison.

    Hi Marian,Here's Marcelo,another FSM emigree.
About the COMA score I saw about a week ago in Intrada or Screen Archives.
    Chech it there!
By the way,and I know that this has nothing to do with Coma or Film Music but I waiting to arrive the 3 CD's of Boskovsky of the original quartet music from viena
(Two violins,Viola and Bass)that I use to have on LP.
Going back to Coma,I think that this score
deserves a good full rendition on a CD edition.

    P.S.1
    Hello Dr Evil Rogerio

    P.S.2
Hello Greg Briant;I know that I have to
    mail You a CD.
I'll do that soon and sorry for the delay.

    Best

Well, to completely confuse you: "Marion" IS a female name in Austria.

I don't blame anybody who thinks I'm female because of my name. It's just a bit annoying if you get letters which adress you as a woman. Once, as a child, I even won a pink watch...

So, was fuer andere Komponisten mags du, Ich weiss ja dass du Goldsmith mags.

    Bis spaeter,

    Scott

    Good German, nearly no errors!
I think Haider is a problem also for other countries (at least for Europe as a whole), although the reactions are quite exaggerated. And even if it's only an innerpolitical problem, it's a very bad situation to have his party in the government.

And now for something completely different (and more positive). What other composers do I like? Well, great fan of John Williams (my #1), Jerry Goldsmith, Patrick Doyle. I also like Herrmann very much, although I don't often listen to his scores on CD. Rosenman's "Lord of the Rings" is one of my favourite scores, and I also like much Golden Age music (especially Korngold).

Marian, I read somewhere that Chapter III has announced that they are going to do a double CD of Coma and Logan's Run. They are also doing The Great Train Robbery. Don't know when these will be available

Hi Marian, real good to see you here!

I have to say that my favorite un-released Goldsmith score is Breakheart Pass which was supposedly coming out on RYKO??!

I love 'Train Robbery' too, but am quite content with the l.p. version for the meantime!!

Chapter III Records has secured a deal with Rhino Records MGM/Turner Classic Movies to produce an exciting series of re-issued classic soundtrack albums.
This series will commence in Spring 2000. Watch this site for more information on this series which will include classics ranging from "The Dirty Dozen" to "Logan's Run."

The Dirty Dozen is a long waited album.
the trilogy of dirties would be nice.
Let say 2 CD's each movie would make a 6CD
    album.
I'm talking about the two movies and the teleplay.

It would be really something if RYKO (or anyone!) put out a full legal version of this score ... the picture is almost forgotten, though, I wouldn't be holding my breath ... (of course who knew the previous Charles Bronson/Jerry Goldsmith/director Tom Gries vehicle would be issued by Prometheus either?? That project was BREAKOUT.)

MWRuger, I still haven't found any info on the re-release of Great Train Robbery you mentioned. Was this an error, or is this really coming out?

NP: Nothing. It's 6 o'Clock in the morning and I have to be up because that $&@!?$ chimney sweeper is coming.

I've sent an email to Rycodisc inquiring about this "possible release." Since it is a United Artists picture, I guess it does fall under their "MGM Soundtracks" 'brand.'

The Rycodisc website (at least the Soundtrack section) is terribly out of date. Perhaps they have the same webmaster as Chapter III.

    *not holding breath*

NP: Breakout (now that you mentioned it... )
