FOR ALL YOU MOBY FANS WHO HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE
    "THE BEACH"

IF YOU HAVE HIS LATEST CD "PLAY" AND HAVE HEARD THE LAST TRACK "MY WEAKNESS" I FELT THIS PIECE WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT IN "THE BEACH" POSSIBLY DURING THE END CREDITS, THIS
PIECE SHOULD BE IN A MOVIE, TO ME IT IS AS
DREAMY AND MOVING AS MOBY'S "AS GOD WALKS OVER THE FACE OF THE WATER"

    WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK??????

Nothing personal, Johnny, but I doubt you're going to find a whole lot of Moby fans in conjunction with film music here. We're pretty die-hard orchestral composer people in general. I know there are some techno fans here, though, so who knows.

    BTW: Welcome aboard!!

I like the music he did for the ending of Scream. Was very effective in the film and sent chills down my spine. Moby ought to take up some more moviemusic tasks.

good thought Johnny, that would have been cool. but didnt you think that where they used Moby in the movie was just as good?
I mean you dont want to overdo Moby
and he is on so many soundtracks
unless he got hired to do a whole score... What if Moby did Enemy of the State
    That would have been cool

I love what Moby did for Heat and Scream. Check out his CD "I Like To Score - Music From Films Vol. 1" for a compilation of his film work. It's really cool, even though some tracks are very techno.

I guess there's are reason why Moby and Massive Attack are represented on every other soundtrack compilation. Their music has a film score quality or feel to it. They should be given the chance of scoring a whole movie, that'd be interesting!

    YEAH !!!
    Massive Attack scoring a film
    it has been close
Nelle Hooper was in Massive Attack and was responsible for Romeo and Juliet
    as well as Craig Armstrong
who was involved with that and has gone on to score three movies since then
All of them together would kick ass!!!

    Johnny-

Actually, Moby's "My Weakness" was just used in the climax of "Any Given Sunday". The whole film uses a variety of techno and rock pieces and I actually guessed early on in the movie that this piece was going to be used in the climax. And it was! Guess I just had a feeling. It's a fun flick...I'd check it out if you haven't already.

I shared ale and shot some pool with the Massive boy's more than once, though I would doubt if they remember.......Good people too!

    Massive Attack be cool...
Moby's stuff is way to primitive to be interesting.

And try not to type in all caps... it makes even the smartest text sound dumb.

I love Massive Attack. I've listened to "Mezzanine" so many times, I've lost count. Of course, I first became interested in them (also Enigma and the Propellerheads)when I heard their music in "The Matrix."

Wow, did anyone catch last Sunday's X-Files episode "Closure" where Mulder finds out what happened to his missing sister? After reading this thread about Moby, I decided to pop in "Play" for the heck of it (I've only listened to it once, maybe twice) and put on "My Weakness." This song was used at the end of "Closure" during a scene where Mulder is walking in the night and sees the spirits of children that had died, including his sister. It was so haunting and chilling and fit beautifully with the scene! I'm so glad I discovered this. I had been wondering if Mark Snow had composed this. This piece also makes me think of "God Yu Takem Laef Blong Mi" from The Thin Red Line which is also great.

Moby's good at his chosen line of work. Has layer, dimension, texture, effect, more than something out of Midi Ventures.

ANY GIVEN SUNDAY is the most passionate blast of true cinema out there. Powerhouse directio n, fine drama, great frikking performance from Pacino (also Diaz, Quaid, Foxx), svelte Italianate cinematography, the best editing of 99, near-Peckinpah writing that hits on excellently pitched ruminations on mortality and the measure of a man's lifespan (lifestyle?)-- all the things out of fashion with the mainstream. BLows all the oscar nominees off the screen and fries em down to lonely puddles of grease for the Academy herd to lap up like sheep.
