    Sean Bires,
Good find with Massive Attack huh?
    I love them.
What do you have by them?
If you like that stuff and other trip hop then maybe we could swap some suggestions.

Dave Matthews Band... Dave Matthews Band!
A few years ago, I got their "Crash" cd, being only vaguely familiar with the band. I listened to that cd tons of times. I have every single cd they've released, and I'm still hooked on them. They are so amazingly talented. Their style of music is so different that I can't even put a label on it. It's jazz, rock, funk, pop, folk, and a little more fused together. There are even a few string-heavy songs (featuring the Kronos Quartet)in "Halloween" and "The Stone" on their last studio release "Before These Crowded Streets." I highly recommend you check them out.
I also like a wide variety: Massive Attack, Third Eye Blind, Propellerheads, Sugar Ray, Eric Clapton, Chicago, Paul McCartney, INXS, Duran Duran, Metallica (only with Kamen!), and the list goes on and on.

Echo and the Bunnymen, anyone? "What are you gonna do ... with your liiiife ... "

P.S. Swashbuckler, re: Ifukube -- his classical stuff is often quite similar to his film work, though usually not as heavy. Depending on what you like of his film work, I'd still say you can't go wrong with BUDDHA, SALOME, LAUDA CONCERTATA PER ORCHESTRA E MARIMBA (which is AMAZING, and still virtually unknown), BALLATA SINFONICA and -- depending how eclectic you want to get, but this one's available from a US manufacturer -- as are most of the abovemenioned -- BINTATARA.

A lot of his choral renditions of traditional Ainu themes have been showing up in the US as well. Not sure why. (They're very challenging to perform -- I know an American soprano approached Mr. Ifukube about recording them over here, but that fell through on the financing side.) But happy to have em. You'll find the most surprising prefigures of later popular themes in such work as that -- the same ideas show up again in works as various as THE BURMESE HARP and UNDERSEA BATTLESHIP (aka ATRAGON).

Tower Records often has decently priced Ifukube classical CDs. That's where I got BINTATARA, in fact, a few years back. Check em out.

    (responding to earlier post...)

So far I only downloaded MP3's of them ("Angel", "Exchange", "Dissolved Girl", "Teardrop", and "Three" are the ones I kept).

I'm considering buying a CD of theirs.

I can't think of any suggestions, though. I don't listen to trip-hop that often

    Good Job Cole.
I like Jackson Cannery and Philosophy, oh, and Army and Magic, and, I guess they're all my favourites.

    YAY
Yes those are excellent, but then again (like you said) they are all so good that (for me) after Philosophy I just cant compare any of the other songs - I get schizoid trying to rate them. That Band is the best!
