They've been mentioned a few times on this board - the scores of Batman: the Animated Series composed by Shirley Walker, Kristopher Carter, Lolita Ritmanis, Michael McCuistion and many others. The themes created for Batman and the villains are among some of the greatest compositions for television.
Unfortunately, like so many great scores(David Newman) out there, these haven't been released on CD.
Since there's very little one man can do to sway the opinions of soundtrack company execs, at least you people reading can voice your support.

Nothing to add to the statement except one thousand percent's worth of agreement.

I'm still waiting for a release as well. Until that happens, I'll have to make due with the MASK OF THE PHANTASM soundtrack. I wish there was a score CD for the animated SUBZERO Batman movie, too.Learn more about the voice of Batman, Kevin Conroy, at my website - http://www.angelfire.com/ca4/kevinconroy

Hey I know I'd love some score CDs from the Batman show, and not to mention the Superman show as well.

I would certainly buy a cd of these scores. They are quite good and well worth releasing.I know this might cause static, but I would rather have had this music than Batman Beyond. Guess WB knows how to run the musical juggernaut.

Shirley Walker, I believe. I remember in an interview somewhere she talked about how the producers told her they were considering going with another group to do the music, since then wanted more techno-style instead of orchestra. Walker felt confident her and her team could do what they were looking for, so they did a little a test. They took a piece of music performed by one of the groups under consideration, then recorded their own piece of music (in the same style), and played both selections for the producers. They though both were from the same group, and when it was revealed that Walker and her team had composed the piece of music the producer's liked best, they were allowed to stay on the series and do the scores.NP: GALAXY QUEST *****/*****

It's sad but true that the hours and hours upon hours of fantastic, feature-quality music Walker was responsible for will *most likely* never see a CD release. Maybe 20 years from now, someone will get it into their heads to produce a soundtrack for the "vintage" series.Actually, I think timing plays an issue. Look how quickly the Batman Beyond garbage got a full-length CD release.

Yeah, I love most of the music to the Batman/Superman series, especially that of Shirley Walker and Lolita Ritmanis (obviously a deciple of exotica master Les Baxter). I honestly thought Les had risen from the dead when I first heard some of Ritmanis' work. The whole series is great and this wonderful music should be preserved on CD.[This message has been edited by Tom Scofield (edited 15 February 2000).]

That's really interesting. It really says something about the originality and intelligence of pop music these days...I love Shirley Walker & co.'s music for the non-Beyond series. Tons of marvelous music with tons of themes. I'd buy a release of this music in a second.

Of course, to fully represent the amount of music Walker and her team has created for the series, they'd have to release, like, a 10-12 disc set of music!! Each episode score runs roughly 15-20 minutes (mentioned in same interview, I think), so it would be pointless to release one score separately. They should either pair several episodes together, or, like I said, just release a whole set with 2-3 episode scores per disc.NP: SUDDEN DEATH ****/*****
