Ok, a couple questions for the geniouses here.First of all, there are three composers listed (Nick Glennie-Smith, Hans Zimmer, and Harry Gregson-Williams). Which cues and/or themes can be contributed to each? I am particularly interested in the great cue: Jade.
My second question is, when do each of these cues appear in the film. As far as I can remember, they are:
Hummell Gets The Rockets : the opening sequence
Rock House Jail : end titles(?)
Jade : obvious-when Connery is talking with his daughter
In The Tunnels : when they are first on The Rock to the fire-fight in the showers (?)
Mason's Walk-First Launch : when the first missile is launched
Rocket Away : (?)
Fort Walton-Kansas : obvious-the end
The Chase : hmm, let me think, is that when they have the car chase?Like I said, I haven't seen it in a while, so some I may be way off. Thanks!
N.P. The Rock! <*****/*****> (I've been listening to this alot for the past couple days!)

I'm not sure myself, but I'm pretty sure that the second cue is Zimmer's -- it has an identical rhythm to something in THE POWER OF ONE.

I believe in an interview, Zimmer said he wished he hadn't been credited, because all he did was the theme and a couple other cues, and that the majority of the music were from the other two.

I think I can answer some of your questions. I love the Rock, almost too much. Hummel gets the Rockets, Jade, Fort Walton, and The Chase are fairly obvious. Rock House Jail comprises the landing of the Marines on the Rock, setup of the missles and communications, setting up of the anti-intrusion in the shower room, Hummel's patriot speech, the call to FBI director Womack, then makes a subtle change into the Seal incursion (about the 4 min mark) and includes the entire landing up until the cistern room. In the Tunnels starts when Mason first does his little timing roll through the fire thing, then skips the shootout in the shower room (unfortunately), and continues (again about 4 minutes into the track) into the chase on the rail cart through the tunnels. Mason's Walk begins when Mason walks down broadway (where all the hostages are), then to the "I'd take pleasure in guttin you boy" scene, then to when Goodspeed and Mason are talking in the cells, when they escape, then the "glass or plastic" scene, through to the launch of the roof battery missle. Rocket Away is the music near the end starting with the standoff with Hummel, the lower lighthouse scene, the final fight, and the green smoke scene. IMHO, one of the the greatest tracks ever composed. I hope this helps, and yes I have seen this movie too many times, and yes I have listened to the score way too many times (Never!), and yes, I need professional help.

A long time ago, a frequenter of the Filmtracks Scoreboard set up his own site:
http://www.ifiji.com/yumbo/which was largely devoted to Zimmer and the Media Ventures people. At that time, as I recall, he'd actually found out exactly which parts of which Media Ventures scores were done by whom -- I don't remember how thorough this was, or if he still has anything like it up. Since the site has changed dramatically since the last time I went there in '97. Give it a whirl if you must, but good luck navigating. Not confusing, exactly, but crammed with links that relate to interests other than film music.

I've asked myself the same questions a couple of times. In my own opinion I think the track Jade is by Nick Glennie-Smith. It resembles a track he wrote for another movie, I just forgot which one.

Well, I think you can hear shades of "Jade" in The Man In The Iron Mask, which he composed.Plus the first minute and a half in Rock sounds also is heard in TMITIM.
