I'm always curious about usernames on messageboards I'm registered with. I don't know if this has been done here before or not (I'm still fairly new), but I posted the same one at FSM a few months ago and got a lot of interesting responses.

"Dantoris" is the name of an evil vampire in a short story I wrote back in 1996 for a Creative Writing class in high school. I liked the name so much I decided to use it while registering for my first messageboard (IMDB.com), and it's stuck with me on every board since.

So go ahead. Let us all know what your username means.

well my name is da street spellin of "cool"
which I obviously am; hence the name.
Or, if I am feeling more sophisticated, then I would dare say it was a reference to the greatest songwriter of our land: Cole Porter
or it could mean that I am a cold hearted individual or that I really like to eat cole slaw
or, it could just be my name.
my email adress (GalliumFlux@aol)is somewhat more unique than just my name. In high School I was daydreaming during Chemistry while staring at the periodic chart of elements. Gallium was a cool sounding element/word. I remarked to a fellow Star Trek fan/friend that it would be a cool name for a ship. "What?" he said. "You know, like the Gallium Flux or something." I like the ring of it so much that I decided to use it for my email adress.

I tried several names before settling on this one. My favorite, but most difficult, was the longest Japanese name I could think of: Hidetsurumaro Takayanagi. Borderline Thai in its difficulty of spelling and pronunciation.

Rocco is a buddy's middle name; H is just the letter I picked to go with it. I've long since decided it stands for "Henry." (I mean, for example, "Hitler" would send the wrong impression altogether, wouldn't it.)

(Shaun, you just THINK you killed me. I'll catch up to you. Sooner than later. Or later than sooner? I haven't decided how I'm going to let you know, heheeheheeeee)

I was planning to keep the origins of my screen name a secret so as to preserve my mystique, but alright.

I was named after my grandfather, who goes by Joseph (actually Joe). It would get kind of confusing with two of us running around, so I go by Peter. Wolk is a Polish word that refers to oxen or steer, indicating that it's original owner was probably a big strong person. (I am not making this up)The Laniewski is pretty much all fancy title stuff except for Lan, which is Polish for cornfield, indicating that the original owner worked on a cornfield.

I myself have no personal connection whatsoever to a cornfield and am a complete wuss. I guess the genes have been diluted a bit through the years.

This mind-numbing journey through historical meanings of names has been brought to you by Poland: I don't care how many jokes you know, we kick ass! We really do!
