As we have discussed on this board and on the other one, Steiner's music for Adventures of Don Juan was reused in Goonies and Treasure of Sierra Madre was in City Slickers 2. Here are some more:

Yellowstone Kelly-some Steiner music from They Died With Their Boots On and Searchers reused

Rise and Fall of Legs Diamond-reuse of some FBI Story music

Merrills Marauders-Operation Pacific, John Wayne sub film tracked in

Rebecca-a short clip from Star is Born

reuse by Steiner himself:

Little Lord Fauntleroy shows up in several later scores

The West Point piece in Santa Fe Trail reused in They Died With Their Boots On

Submarine X-M reused in Dive Bomber and others

I also noticed this one the other night in the prologue of Hellcats of the Navy-Caine Mutiny. Best, John. Others?

A couple of other examples of Steiner reusing his own music:

The openings of the main title music for "The Lost Patrol" (a great, early John Ford movie, with a memorable Boris Karloff in a supporting role) and "Casablanca" are almost identical.

"Distant Drums" (I highly recommend the Screen Archives CD to any Steiner fans) reuses some motifs from "King Kong."

Another bad habit on Steiner was to use and reuse those patriotic source pieces and cavalry cues in a million different scores. He wore those out.

I saw a few mins of Distant Drums on AMC a while back. A really lousy film. Only good thing about it was the good scenery in the Everglades. The overdressed and highly decorative Seminoles really cracked me up and all of the weapons in the battles sounded like all the sound effects that WBs used in 100s of films. The sounds did not fit the weapons. The early weapons sounded like rapid fire repeaters and later model pistols and revolvers. No accurate research on this one. F-/. Take care, John.

Add substantial reuse in Searchers from They Died With Their Boots On. JW.

Yes, "Distant Drums" was certainly a mediocre film. And interestingly, according to the booklet accompanying the Screen Archives CD, the movie was originally scored by Alex North, but after apparently disappointing previews, "Steiner was called in to save the picture with some of his tried-and-true musical pyrotechnics." I don't think anything could have saved this one, but I do enjoy the music, which includes a nice heroic theme for Gary Cooper that Steiner makes good use of throughout the score.
