Topic: What can you recommend?

Here's the type of score I'm looking for:Mostly quiet, sensitive, possibly (or probably) romantic music with very few to no action cues, and preferrably (but not necessarily) with a hint of sadness and/or desparation.
What can you recommend?
Thanks,
James

I concur with the other Barry scores, but you definitely want to grab the just released Decca cd for "Playing By Heart." I am not a jazz fan by any measure, but I have played this disc through almost a dozen times since I picked it up last Friday. This has to be some of the most beautiful music the man has ever done.

Get some Thomas Newman, also! Meet Joe Black doesn't have any action cues (otherwise I'd recommend The Shawshank Redemption, not that IT has action, but there are some relatively loud cues, The Green Mile, American Beauty--loud cues again, and The Horse Whisperer---too many "hee haw" cues).Shaun

Hi!How about:
CONTACT
FOR LOVE OF THE GAME
THE QUIET MAN
SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE
FORREST GUMP
STAR TREK: INSURRECTION
RADIO FLYER?
Some of the above DO have their dramatic moments, but nothing too jarring/distracting (IMHO).NP: WYATT EARP 5/5*

Almost everything by Barry
Everything by Eidelman apart from The Discovery and Star Trek VI
Also:
THE RUSSIA HOUSE (Jerry Goldsmith)
THE CIDER HOUSE RULES (Rachel Portman)
SPITTFIRE GRILL (James Horner)
TO GILLIAN ON HER 34TH BIRTHDAY (JAMES HORNER)
ANGELA'S ASHES (John Williams)
RETURN TO PARADISE (Mark Mancina)
BEYOND RANGOON (Hans Zimmer)Just to name a few.
I wouldn't consider RADIO FLYER a quiet and romantic score. It's pretty good though.NP: Sleepy Hollow ****/*****

Thanks for so many suggestions, everyone! I have a handful of the scores suggested, and I love them, so it's good to see that I'm finding what i'm searching for.My "CDs to Get" list just jumped from 19 to about 50.
