Actually Matt, There are talks of a sequel to the Rock that starts off right where the last one ended. Goodspeed has the microfilm, is double crossed by the Government, and is chased by British commandos (who are going after Mason), and the commandos kidnap Jade and Goodspeed's girlfriend and take them back to the Rock. Goodspeed and Mason have to team up and try to rescue them. Sounds like an interesting concept. An added plot point is that before Hummel was killed, he planted some VX-2 gas on the Rock somewhere, and that has to be neutralized. This plot point might also refer to the rumored title for the movie: The Rock 2: Poisoned Minerals. These are all rumors, of course, but heck, I'd go see it. As long as Bay directed, Bruckheimer produced, and Zimmer scored. : )

That sounds like **** man! jesus, never heard anything that stupid. they had better not make that. The Rock was excellent, dont kill it with a stupid, unnecessary sequel!

Oh well, to each his own. I love the Rock, and I like this idea too. You're right though, if the sequel sucked, it would really take something away from the original. Of course, that's the risk one takes with any sequel.

I love the Rock too, its one of my favorite movies. The microfilm was a comic prop, not a key plot element like in the bond films(hell, its a silly reference TO the bond films-Connery=bond, get it?). Turning it into the plot of the sequel just isnt the way to go. Lets take a joke and make a serious movie based on it. yeah, thats ****ing great. The Rock ended perfectly, if they do a sequel, especially this one, they will destroy it. Bay wouldnt touch it, and i wouldnt watch it.
And the whole thing with Hummel is completely against the man's character, so that pisses me off even more. It was a BLUFF-whoever came up with this idea didnt pay attention during the movie. ****ing chimpanzees...
and why on EARTH would british commandos(which ****ing hilarious in and of itself) go back to The Rock? This whole thing sounds like someone was smoking copious amounts of ganja when they thought this one up.
Im sorry, i find the very idea of a sequel to The Rock insulting. Its on the level of making a sequel to Titanic(well, not quite, but im making a point). it ended, its over, and it was great...cant they ****ing leave it be?

Yeah, I can see your point. I guess more than anything I just want another movie along the same lines as The Rock. I am a huge fan of Michael Bay. After The Rock, Armageddon was a huge disappointment. Pearl Harbor isn't in same genre as the Rock (hopefully!). I want to see another Bay pure action movie. Not in space, but on earth. With guns, and Navy Seals and car chases. I guess that I felt a sequel to the Rock was the best chance to see it. Oh well. Maybe Bay will make a sequel to Bad Boys.

Yeah, i understand. I want to see another movie like The Rock too, but a sequel just isnt the way to do it. Bad Boys 2 could be fun, but i think they should come up with a new movie, with new characters, new plot, etc etc...Oh well. I can dream cant I?

Actually, I saw Bay in an interview, and he said he was in the early stages of development for sequels to The Rock (yeah!!) AND Bad Boys (boo!!) While he didn't elaborate on the B.B. one, he did mention that the second Rock picture would be more along the lines of Goodspeed being assigned a new case, a spin-off like U.S. Marshals rather than a direct sequel. (I guess the title would be The Further Adventures of Agent Goodspeed. ) I'd rather see a spin-off than an actual sequel.

Really, that's interesting because I just read a short interview with Bay where he was asked about a sequel to the Rock, and he replied, "Not for me." (Not exactly a really straightforward answer, but whatever.) The interview was on this site: http://www.inlinefirst.com/Insider_Report.asp?irnum=60

Ah, but to much dismay..... who says Alien 5 will be the final chapter in the Alien saga?

I'm glad the TV movies for Brad Fiedel were listed. I especially like Purgatory with Sam Sheppard and Randy Quaid. It's in video. It had an exciting western score by Fiedel.

I don't think Foster has a schedule problem with Hannibal. I think she read the book and said, "no way." Too bad as the Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs were great reads. I personally hated Hannibal and can't imagine how it can be salvaged even by the wonderful Hopkins.

otten - Perhaps the interview I saw was before the one you read?

joan - I liked Purgatory also. Sam Sheppard (and the rest of the cast) was great.

And actually, the best Hannibal story was the film Manhunter will William Petersen. The man who played Hannibal in that film (can't recall the name - Brian Cox?) was a lot better as the character than Hopkins.

I'm all for no EPISODE 2 and 3. We already know what happens to Anakin and Obi-Wan anyway. Why the hell bother?
