I just read that David Arnold won't be doing the score for The Patriot. Geez, that sucks. I was really looking forward to him having to score this movie. Who will do it now? Joel Goldsmith already did Moon 44 for Emmerich. I'd really like him doing this movie. He's able to...

Man! Talk about an bummer. I was really looking forward to it. Is there any reason for his backing out? Or was he fired?Well I wonder who could do the score now? Perhaps Jerry Goldsmith, Trevor Jones or Basil Poledouris?

Dan's right... I'm *really* *really* disappointed. I'm holding back on my response cause I want to keep my composure. I have e-mailed a good friend of mine (director of Last of the Dogmen, writer for Disney's Tarzan) who is working w/ the Devlin/Emmerich bunch on a sequel which Arnold will hopefully be scoring... because of this, he speaks with "The Patriot" group regularly.I just want to confirm Kris' report... and what better a way than to ask someone who knows *for sure*?
Still keeping my fingers crossed... but not too tightly. I'll let you know when I hear back from him.

How wierd, the temp stuff he did was great, a lovely theme that would have suited the movie really well.It is confirmed, I have it from a very good source. Very very true.
How gutting is that? very.

Hope Williams did, and thanks God Arnold is out. After Independence Day, the guy did nothing listenable.
P.S. Zimmer? Somebody's joking?

Hans Zimmer or James Newton Howard would be great.[This message has been edited by TimT (edited 26 January 2000).]

I agree. Zimmer and/or any of his pets would be great since it would spare us to be forced to watch another embarrassing picture of Emmerich and his friends just to check the score...

I agree with you Andre... I'm glad Arnold isn't scoring The Patriot. Although they're partly resposible for his success, Arnold needs to sever his ties with Devlin/Emmerich. StarGate was bad, ID4 was worse, and Godzilla was probably one of the worst films of the past decade...I can't imagine how bad The Patriot will be...

I like Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich's films. Stargate was great. ID4 was great. Godzilla wasn't the best, but it had it's moments. Arnold's scores were excellent for all of them. I admire what they are doing, and I keep myself very humble about it. After all, they are the ones out there making movies... not me (and that's what I want to do).I'm really disappointed that Arnold won't be scoring the film. I was REALLY looking forward to it. Regarding "The Patriot" as a story... I'm good friends with the director of "Dogmen," also the writer of "Disney's Tarzan." He's friends with Devlin/Emmerich and will be writing "Godzilla 2" for them. Trust me, because he is writing it, the film will be much better than the first. They are taking an entirely different approach than with the original (which bombed). Anyway, back to the topic at hand: "The Patriot" is supposed to be something completely new and different from the stereotypical Devlin/Emmerich collaboration. I think you all should have enough respect for their creative talents and wait to see the film before you judge their ideas.
If there is one thing that keeps me from becoming a director/producer, it will be because people like you (no one in particular) will always be criticizing before you even see the final product. That's wrong to do. This is their movie - let them make it. If I have a vision and am trying to make it a reality, I don't need a million different people telling me what they think is good or bad or what choices they think I should make.
See the movie first. If you don't like it, flame it all you like. Only then will I respect your opinion.
**A very, very upset Jeron.**
PS - I apologize if I've offended anyone. I am in rare form. Ask any veteran member here - I've probably only done this once before. I hope you guys know my character well enough to understand the point I'm trying to relay.

Way to go Jeron!I agree with you completely. They are good, and don't judge before you see the final product (something I often forget.
