I have a burnin' question and appreciate any help.

Goldsmith's THE SWARM appears to have a boot edition from Soundtrack Library (SL) also INNERSPACE on Soundtrack Library.

Considering the fact that THE BURBS had a large amount of hiss throughout and was a bad attempt at digitalizing the recording, I was wondering if all of SL pressings are of the same quality.

Let's take ALIEN -complete score- as a comparison for this thread. Would like to know how these two (INNERSPACE and THE SWARM) measure up to this one. Purely the sound quality.

I don't own the score myself, but I've heard through friends that the sound quality is abysmal - like SUGARLAND EXPRESS, if you know that one...

Actually no, I don't know SUGERLAND EXPRESS.

So I gather that the sound quality is phenomenal?

Phenomenal? No, ABYSMAL - that mean incredibly poor. Besides hiss, pops and crackles, the whole thing is copied from deteriorating masters.

But I'm talking way over my head here. Someone who actually owns the score, should reply...

Yeah, the sound quality is not too great on it. Still, if you're a Goldsmith fanatic, you may want to have it anyway...

I have both INNERSPACE and THE 'BURBS, and INNERSPACE is definately better sounding than the latter.I can almost never listen to THE 'BURBS.To me,the sound quality is that awful. On the other hand the INNERSPACE boot is not very good either.Although it is quite a bit better sounding than THE 'BURBS,and I can listen to it and still enjoy it.I would only recommend buying the cd if your a big fan of the score.
