I need to go waaay back a bit to clear up a misunderstanding.Joe:
I'm sorry you felt upset about my post. Let the record show that I did NOT question Aaron based on the simple profile, in which he came off as young and talented (which may very well be true). I was simply amazed (and a bit hesitant to believe, I agree) that a composer this young, still in high school, had accomplished that much with all those resources available to him. I was actually thinking about starting a thread called "Does age really matter?", in which this topic could be fully explored, but I've held off.
If Aaron is "legitimate" (and I certainly give him the benefit of the doubt), he's a unique, Mozart-like prodigy. Maybe. Or maybe not.

For what it's worth, this will be my last post on this topic, unless there is some new, earth-shattering development. I do sincerely hope that this was a misunderstanding -- that Aaron has a good explanation, and can prove that he actually did think he was sending something he wrote. If that is the case, he has learned a very valuable lesson about the fragility of trust and reputation. They are both so easily damaged. I'll bet he will be ultra-careful before he ever does anything like that again.I never doubted that it was possible that a teenager could write pleasant orchestral music. As a matter of fact, I wrote my first symphonic work at age 19, and had the privilege of hearing it performed by one of our local orchestras. So that was never the issue with me.
(Warning: soapbox coming up -- scroll down if you don't want to see it.)
What has become the issue with me is this mentality of heaping disparaging remarks on those who say "What's wrong is wrong." I do not understand why it is that when someone fabricates a story, the people who have the nerve to stand up and say, "You lied" somehow become the bad guys. It seems that happens at all levels these days, from an Internet message board to the presidency itself.
It is not an insult to say something is not true if it isn't -- it's a statement of the circumstances. And it is not wrong to expect a little accountability from people for their actions. If you think I'm wrong, go back and read the first 10 or so posts in this thread. Many people, including some who have had extensive contact with Aaron, felt incredibly betrayed and angry.
However, I'm always glad when a misunderstanding gets cleared up, and when I'm the cause of it, I make sure I straighten things out right away. It's too important.

A liar is a liar.
Yet someone who makes a mistake is not a liar.
Trick is to wait before you call someone a liar.

Well, once again thank you from the bottom of my heart. I apologize one more time for this horrible mistake! I did in fact learn a valuable lesson and I will never make a mistake like that again.I will reply to a few comments. My profile sounds like how a college composition major should sound like. I was lucky enough to grow up in a family that were all into music. My Grandpa was and is a good friend of many greats, such as Laurence Welk, Hector Olivera, Myron Bloom... My Grandmother happens to be a professional singer. She has performed under many great conductors and was a regular with the New Orleans symphony. I started music(playing piano) at the age of 8. I am still a rugged piano player! I continued and started studying with amazing teachers! I started composing 5-6 years ago and I have worked very hard. I study scores alot, I take private lessons, and I read many books on composition. I have worked real hard and by no means am I a prodigy. I am nothing like Mozart, he was amazing! I hope I can be considered being someone like him when I am older.
My goals are: Be a conductor of a major symphony orchestra(Chicago, New York, Cleveland, London, Boston), while composing for film and concert works. I guess you could say like a John Williams or Jerry Goldsmith.
I don't lie! It does not get you anywhere and I hope this clears things up.
Thanks,

Man,
I wish some of us would have carried ourselves in such a humble and dignified way when this whole thing started as Aaron has done, perhaps things would have never gone this far.Scott

I am happy that I have kept out of this so far, but I must be heard!First of all, I was shocked when I first read the events unfolding. How could this happen? Would Aaron really do that?
Then, I read his explanation, and, to tell the truth, I did believe him. I felt very sorry for him because of the hurtfull and accusative things said of and to him.
People, you must believe him. People do make honest mistakes. Heck, you wouldn't be human if you were perfect.
To sum it all up, give him a chance. As others have said, Aaron took this MUCH better than many of us here. God bless you Aaron and keep up the good work!
P.S. Verily, I am still vexed that I have not had the chance to listen to any of your work, Aaron. Please help me out!e-mail is robin4@hotmail.com
Thanks!

Hi,first, excuse me for my bad english.
Yesterday, Aaron Collins sent me this email:"Dear Mr. Genovino,
Hi, I don't know if you aware of a mishap on Moviemusic Messageboards.
I downloaded your music(Adventures) of MP3.com, and accidently sent it
out saying it was a piece I wrote for the board.
We looked into the problem and found out I mislabeled and mixed
up two of the Adventures.
We cleared this whole situation and made everyone aware that it
was your music. I am sorry this happened.
I thought it would be my best interest to tell you.
I downloaded your music for a couple reasons. I am about to go to college in a half of year and I wanted to see
if your courses and teachers had any effect on you or your music.
I am very impressed with it! I am 17 years old and I aspire to be
a film composer and I am trying to make as many connections I can.
A response would be so much appreciated!Sorry for the mishap and thanks,
Aaron Collins"
I am sure it was a mishap and I appreciate his apologies.
"Adventure" and/or "Adventures" are very usual titles for
Film music. My piece Adventures belongs to a little and
personal music production library which I am writing in classical
and film music styles and recording with orchestral samples,
for video and multimedia projects.
Anyway, I hope Aaron will take care the next time he send
mp3 files by separating his and other composers music.Sincerely
Antonio Genovino

I'm satisfied that it was a mistake, now.Aaron, I suggest you take his advice and keep your compositions in a separate file folder from other composers' music. It's such an easy step that would prevent another mishap like this. (An ounce of prevention . . . etc.)
So, when do we get to hear the Aaron Collins ADVENTURE?
