For me, it was The Replacement Killers and K2. I still cry over all that money wasted. I'd sell them, but no one would take them, or would they? Hint, Hint, Hint.

Oh well, they might make good coasters

Although Goldeneye is up there, I didn't pay for that one. And I try not to buy any unless I know I'll like it. I'm pretty picky. So I guess mine would be.... Wing Commander. If I had to choose.

Geeesh, you guys sure do hate a lot of good scores. I for one have and love:

    K2
    Drop Zone
    GoldenEye
    Wing Commander
    Peacemaker
    Dick Tracy
    Batman Returns
    Mission Impossible

Probably the worst cd I've purchased, and many of you may remember me mentioning it, is Arlington Road.

As for the others above... send them to me! I know people that would love them.

Wow, you guys are harsh. Peacemaker and Enemy of the State are two of my favorites. My worst buy ever would have to be, well, umm, well actually I really haven't bought a soundtrack that I couldn't bear to listen to at least part of. I guess I am just that good. I don't listen to Eraser much, I just never got into it.

I can't believe you guys dared to mention Batman Returns. Next thing you'd be bashing is Edward Scissorhands! They are virtually the same score except a little darker and with the Batman theme encorporated within.

As far as the worst one I've ever bought...the score would have to be "Die Hard 2." It's just an over-all lame CD. Nothing thematic, just a bunch of low strings. But the worst SOUNDTRACK I ever recieved would be the "Steel" album, and it was given to me for free. Oh well. I guess some things aren't even worth paying money for.

I can't badmouth "Dick Tracy." Yes, it evokes a lot of "Batman," but the theme is so infectious ... (Bum-bum BUM-Bum ba-Ba-BA-BAAAAAA!!!)

The WORST score I ever bought was James Horner's "Glory." I'm tired of explaining, but this is a new messageboard. "Glory" is Horner's most successful fraud. Any scrap of musical merit that score has is owed entirely to Prokofiev and Orff. It may be well and good for those not familiar with the above masters, but you're buying into a lie. I suspect much of the nostalgia and whimsy surrounding this derivative trash is due to fond or poignant recollections of the moving film. Do yourselves a favor: buy "Ivan the Terrible."

(No offense intended, of course. Just my strong opinion. Feel free to ignore me.)

NP "Shakespeare in Love" (not the CD, the end credits are playing on the TV. Mushy. Nice, but mushy.)

Wedge: please, dont take any offense when i say this, but you are, for lack of a better word, a moron. Glory is a bad score??!! HA! from this point on, i think ill ignore you. i dont want to get into the criteria that actually makes a good score, nor do i want to get into a discussion about composers who borrow from classical music. So ask someone else who knows my arguement, or look at my old posts.

wait...actually: please feel free to take offense.

I didn't think that Goldsmiths Vanishing got released? And Batman Returns is one of my all time fav. scores (although I'd admit it works less well on disc than in the film).
I really wish that I hadn't bought the compilation with Death Wish 4 & other stuff on - Tough Guys Don't Cry by Badalamenti was on it, which was pretty good, but the rest sucked. And Terry Plumeri's Terror Within 2 wasn't good either. Still, they only cost a couple of quid each, & I was able to sell them on at a profit! Splendid.

I just remembered more of the worst I bought:

    - "Darkman" (Elfman) - what a waiste of a great movie. I wonder what Lo Duca would have done with it...

    - "Nightbreed" (Elfman) - annoying

    - "True Lies" (Fiedel) - that's what an orchestra must sound like. Can you please let me come back to my keyboards now?

Of course I bought all these cds when I was nothing but a teen. At that time I bought almost anythig with the label "Original Motion Picture Soundtrack".

I could add "Peacemaker", "Enemy of the State"(was that a score? or just noyse?), "The Rock", etc... but I don't buy just anything these days.

I don't think I ever bought what I'd call an *bad* score. Hey I am glad to have any at all.

Don't get me wrong there are definitely scores I dislike, though those are ones I would not buy. The few I have bought without knowing too much about, I ended up liking.

The closest though would probably be Terminator 2 from Brad Fiedel. Though since
I want to buy it again, maybe not. Actually, I do remember not caring to much
about Philip Glass's Koyaanisqatsi, which was one I liked at least some what, it was
    just an little repetitious.

I guess I am one of the few, who can listen to practically anything.

I will say, liking most if not all of the genres of film music helps. Maybe that is why I can stomach The Rock, Con Air and all those other Media Ventures scores.

    Anyone else feel the same?

    Sean Robert Abbey

The worst? Probably THE OUTER LIMITS, the new TV-series with a bottomless score by John van Tongeren. The theme by Mancina is kinda catchy, though.

Never too fond of Jarre's GORILLAS IN THE MIST either (although I love Jarre in general).

I kinda liked the movie THE FIFTH ELEMENT, and I'm sure that some of you love the score.....but I use this soundtrack CD as a coaster (honestly!) to remind me not to purchase indiscriminately. Outside of the Peter Gabriel tune & the "diva"'s cue I have never found anything to like about it. An absolutely ruinous score purchase. However, as a coaster, it cleans well & is always easy to locate.....
