It appears that I will have the opportunity to go to England for 10 days at the end of March. A choir that I sing with is going on tour. We will be singing in London, then concerts in Cornwall and Essex. (I know . . . kind of spread out, aren't they?)

My question is, for those of you who may know, what music-related places should I try to hit while I'm in London? We will only be there two or three days, so I would like to get some guidance. Any good music shops? Concerts or other shows that a movie music fan would appreciate?

Any hints you could offer would be more than I have right now . . . which is bupkus.

    Well,

For a music shop, try Chappell Music in Bond Street, you are bound to go shopping on Oxford Street, so you will be right there, very good sheet music department and instruments etc etc.

For buying records etc, try out the HMV and Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street, except thatthey will be very expensive compared to the USA.

For shows etc, I don't really know, (not a fan) but I have heard that the Lion King is very good. For a concert go to any of the major concert halls for a great concert, The Barbican, Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall.

To go to the cinema, go to Leicester Square, again the prices will be much higher than you are used to, but they are the best cinemas probably.

    Have fun

Every thing that Pliskinn say's PLUS...

Tower Records in Piccadily Circus and also try RARE DISCS on 18 Bloomsbury street just off Oxford street the owners of which really know their film music!

Word of advice, you're gonna find the CDs available here in the UK, especially in London are WAY more expensive then you'd be spending in the old US of A.

I got Newman's American Beauty score today, £19.99 (about $26 to you). So just shop carefully.
Pliskin has named all the hot spots for decent concert performaces and so on.

This country is expensive and pap, please help me emigrate...

Thanks for the replies, so far, folks.

I guess I expected that things would be expensive (as they always are for a tourist) but that doesn't bother me so much if I'm able to find things that I wouldn't find over here.

As for emigrating, unfortunately, I'm only a commercial real estate attorney. I don't know anything about immigration law.
