All I know is that it's a direct to video and it should be released very soon.

The original release date I heard for the movie was "late November," but apparently that was false, because I haven't seen it anywhere on- or off-line yet.According to a Mark McKenzie fan page, Varese Sarabande will release the score "in 2000." I have no idea how true and/or definite that might be.

Crono, it most probably will be nothing like the first one. In fact, it should be better than the first one. Granted, there are a couple of very sweeping tracks on the original that many people like, but McKenzie is an excellent composer that has yet to see his "big break." He's done quite a bit of TV work on his own, in addition to a few small films. He's done lots of orchestration work on some big films. His Durango and Frank and Jesse scores are outstanding! Both on Intrada...

This should definitely be better than the first one, Edelman isnīt exactly the greatest of composers IMO. Also worth checking out from McKenzie are Warlock 2:Armageddon and Son Of Darkness:To Die For 2I know they are crap films but the music is excellent

Dragonheart by Edelman was his best up to date, but he should've used a full orchestra.I think McKenzie will do a better job, though. His music is great. He has the touch several composers don't have. He has learned a lot as an orchestrator of eg. Elfman.

Edelman writes wonderful themes, but his orchestrations suck!

For those who don't know about the movie itself, from what I understand it involves a baby dragon, the child of Draco and his wife or whatever before they were killed. Apparently he kept his child a secret so as not to be hunted, since being the last. Now I don't know if this info is for sure, but it appears to be.

I've seen the trailer, that's the right plot. Throw in the young boy struggling to become a knight who befriends the dragon and that's basically the movie (plus the villains of course). I'm a little upset about this plot as it totally nullifies the ending of the first movie. I'm really interested to here the score, though.Kyp, since Peter didn't mention this one, I will: The Disappearance of Garcia Lorca. One of my all-time favorites. Also on Intrada...

BTW, in case anyone is interested, I have been told it will contain Edelman's themes from the first film. Which I personally love.
So I for one, can not wait to hear this.Sean Robert Abbey

I've been under the impression that there is a promo of this score floating around, because C.C. mentioned it a few months ago at Filmtracks. I believe he has a copy of it in hand. He was very enthusiastic about the sound of the score; use of Edelman's original theme(s), some new ones, and all beautifully, lushly orchestrated. Should be one to look forward to in '00.
