Here is a good story about how great the Superman score realy is. I am a big Pittsburgh Pirates fan, last yr in April they held thier groundbreaking for thier new ballpark I was present at the end they had fireworks. They played the main theme to superman while the fireworks where going off it was a perfect fit.

Crono,
the two cd set by Varese are re-recordings with the music conducted by Debney (I think) and using the Scottish orchestra NOT The London Symphony Orchestra. The one we are talking about is the original soundtrack tacken from the movie itself, conducted by Williams himself and played by LSO. It's like the expanded version of ET and the Star Wars series. In fact, it is nothing else but the expanded version of Superman.

Well Aaron,
it all depends on what kind of collector you are. Although the re-recording is quite good (as re-recordings go), I myself as a die hard Williams fan want the original score as conducted by him. The alternate cues are another great benefit.
To summarize, if you just want the score because you like it, then the re-recording should be quite adequite. Yet, if you want the real thing plus additional info to help you understand the thoughtprocesses that went through John Williams head, then this edition is a must.Scott
